The writer Nazir naaji, isn’t worth much but he has taken it from Rahimullah YousufZai, the BBC correspondent who is very knowledgeable of Pashtun areas.
It basically says that Taliban are a force in Pashtun areas of Afghanistan and FATA. The pashtun populations of NWFP has sympathies with Taliban. The karzai government and US are negotiating with Taliban and are willing to accept Taliban’s existence but want them to severe ties with Al-Qaeda and foreigners.
So…IS it possible that we may see a pashtun state comprising pashtun areas of Afhanistan and Fata, that will purge itself of extremists?
Pashtuns of our tribal areas will never join with Afghanistan. Nazir Naji, obviously, put this thought himself. It certainly is not coming from Rahimullah Yousafzai.
yeah but u still need baluchistan to get the central asian oil out.
naheen yaar, itna gusa mat kia karo
I love balochistan cuz one day when we have moter-way completed.
I will put my hand made radio-telescope some where far in balochistan and enjoy.
That may be an over-speculation but it appears powers are manipulating the situation in such a way as to destablise Pakistan through NWFP, FATA, and Baluchistan..Recently, I heard Musharaf said to Orakzai, Governer, NWFP to forget about FATA and take care of settled areas...
In 2000, a scholarly essay titled "Lawless Frontier" by Robert D. Kaplan appeared in Atlantic Monthly that said how some states in South and Central Asia are facing the threat...
There are little chances that Musharaf , Benazir duo would work...would rather cause further instability...Are global powers aiming at soft collapse?

Well, you must be happy, you can get your Pashtunistan/Talibanistan in the process. I certainly won't miss FATA being absent from Pakistan.
FATA terrorists can go make their own country, they won't be missed in Pakistan.
we can't be so short sighted. Not every one who goes against Govt. is a terrorist.
Specially a Govt. which is destroying our values/sovernty and eventually country too.

Yeah, suicide bombing, beheading, blowing up shops, firing rockets are really strengthening pakistan's values and sovereignty.

I am not big fan of current govt and its deeds, but don't see fruits of having FATA attached with Pakistan unnecessarily knowing that they don't follow our laws, they provide refuge to terrorists whether local (MQM) or foreign (Afghani/Uzbek) etc.

pata naheen bhai. but we did create taliban.
we didn't control them to be good rulers , we only made them into good fighters.
Then one fine morning we turned our back on "mujahideen" ??
cuz our biggest enemy wanted us to do that?? how is that right???
One thing I wan't to say its pakistan we can't handle things in american style.

Don't loose patience my friend...Cool down...Believe me that is exactly what should happen if FATA is to be free from the Jehadi mechanations of the powers that be...Just station UN forces in FATA.....And world would see that with the "umbilical chord" broken how Al-Qaueda and others fizzle out farther to the east...
Same should happen in Kashmir...Look how the "Jehadi bukhar" in Kashmir has subsided after 2001/2002 when the spectre of war between India and Pakistan had suddenly loomed large and Donald Rumsfield had to visit Mushi in Islamabad to convince him of the stark consequences...and how the jehadi training camps in Mansehra, Mirpur, Neelum Valley, etc. have become disfunctional at least for the time being...
But anyhow, Mushi for a while needs Jehadi justification to stay in power... and so do need his allies and political constituencies like MQM, PML(Q), MMA, etc...Moreover, 100 million dollars per month in military and other aid is a handsome money ...Low intensity war against NATO/US pays off...The predecessor Zia-ul-Haq used to say"keep the kettle boiling at the right temprature"...$$$s/terror...
Still I will say don't push FATA out...Extend political and administrative reforms into that area and bring it into the main stream of Pakistan...And dismantle the Jehadi infrastructure there...
