A Musharraf-Benazir future?

Re: A Musharraf-Benazir future?

the issue with that is that if it is an honest sou motu notice taken in the interest of law and not to gring a personal axe, it will nanga some others as well. everyone came to the party that day expecting to get lucky..some just did not know that they will get lucky, but in a very diff way..they just got screwed big time

Re: A Musharraf-Benazir future?

I just hope that CJ does not lower the standing of his office by lowering himself to the level to which Mush sank. He should operate strictly within the boundaries of law and the dignity that his high office requires. It is time for healing not vindicative actions. If that happens that will be very sad for the country.

Re: A Musharraf-Benazir future?

U have a point and I was going to say that if he doesnt take suo mot it'd probably only be because of judicial propriety. Let's see what happens. Regardless, I dont see Altaf coming back at all. Even if the courts don't touch him, someone else will. :whistling

Re: A Musharraf-Benazir future?

Ehsan bhai, we must not forget that Justice Chaudhary was one of the most pro-active judges in our history. SO if he takes suo moto, then he might just be doing what he has always done but some might end up thinking he is being vindictive.

Re: A Musharraf-Benazir future?

I would rather have someone else get to him, this guy is way too polarizing and having him in a legthy trial can be a problem, on the other hand charging someone sentencing them and tossing them in prison may show people that they cant get away with crap..and yet on another hand..sheesh i used up both hands, can I borrow yours, okay so on the third hand..even if this guy is tried and convicted in Pakistan, he will live comfortably in some country club prison running the show from inside and cutting deals with ppl to give him a pardon.

Re: A Musharraf-Benazir future?

as I said..it would all depend on how he approaches it.

Re: A Musharraf-Benazir future?

I dunno. Depends on the govt. in power. If Imran gets in power(about as likely as Altaf coming back) , Altaf might spend the rest of his life dropping soaps in the slammer.

Re: A Musharraf-Benazir future?

The top tier of MQM is on ISI payroll. MQM is a local group comprised of students and urban, poor groups of people in Karachi but the third most influential party of the country. You can not run the country without MQM alliance. More likely will become national mainstream in coming year. If those top tier were in trouble than '88, '92, '95, '96 would have got the job done.

Nothing sticks, no case, no operation. I thought you guys knew it.

Re: A Musharraf-Benazir future?

elaborate on 88,92.95, 96
I am familiar with the 92, 95,96
what is the 88 deal?

Re: A Musharraf-Benazir future?

Before '88, ISI was not involved in Pakistani politics. After that they became and so did the military. They knew the rest of the parties are family and feudal oriented so they can deal with the families but this party was very open mostly students and urban class. Entire focal point was secular progressive democracy and nothing more. After the inclusion and certain events gave birth to a militant-wing over night.

People are legitimate, supporters and workers that is why they are killed, murdered and abducted without notice. Leadership stays? Moreover, the focal point of secularism and progressive democracy can not come from a former Chicago Cab Diver, mostly came from the student and urban wing.

Re: A Musharraf-Benazir future?

I do know that many of the former NSF folks went to MQM because they saw it as an extention of the views of their college political group which was a secular, urban, and progressive movement.

Re: A Musharraf-Benazir future?

It is in Karachi, moreover ISI did admit the penetration in politics and credited to the most of political unrest in the nineties.

Re: A Musharraf-Benazir future?

When a similar judgement happened in India I think it was turning point there. I think it must be either Indra or her sons who was premier and the court reversed something they did.May be now pakistan leaders will grow some balls (and some honesty) and confriont the religious mafia

Re: A Musharraf-Benazir future?

Benazir not that crazy about the Chief Justice, like Nawaz is. Even after the SC judgement she is still batting for Musharraf.
