Normally hospitals allow husbands to be present during the labour. Islamically, there is nothing wrong with that either.

Um I read an article somewhere…where the men who saw their wives give birth , it really ruined thier love life afterwards coz they kept thinking of THAT…

I dont think there’s any religious issue… personally, thats up to each individual..

ya, yeh baat maine bhi suni thi, kay after going tru that , the men have problems in handlin “THAT” and that the sexual life gets affected by that and that they dun find their partner attractive any more ..
dun know if its really like that ..

but im definitely sure that the sexual life gets hell a lot affected by that ..

i personally would say .. a man has nothing to do in in the delivery room ..

Yes the sexual life afterwards would be a legitimate concern i suppose. Ill probably just end up having him standing by the door and if i want him, ill scream!! (thats if he can distinguish the difference between the screaming because of the pain, or because I am calling him!)

JazakAllah and thanks everyone for your replies.......i asked this question bcoz in Pakistan in most hospitals they dont allow men to be with their wives in labour room.....i thought may be they have some religious conditions for doing that..........but after this thread i assume its only a cultural prohibition.

Anyway, I suggest every man should be with his wife during labour, to understand the status of woman, and for those who think that watching childbirth can ruin marriage, or eradicate physical attraction, it can happen but only for a weak or so.
My husband was with me at the time of childbirth and he even cut the umbilical cord of the baby. but I believe he's still in love with me.

Really? That’s ridiculous..maybe if men were allowed into the room and saw their wives giving birth, theyd appreciate their wives alot more, and respect that it’s a good idea to wait to have kids..instead of popping em out every year ..

First of all there is nothing wrong in having children every year, if we have the capability to look after them, secondly, mostly its the women who decide whether to have children or not. And lastly, I don’t know what are you trying to say. So please explain it to me.

I, for one, can't bear the cries of my to-be wife at such moments. I might discuss this with her. If she wants me with her at the moment, I will without any second thought be there.

depends on whether it is a Sunday or not and whether I am scheduled to play the cricket match. If it is on TV then I can alwas take a portable tv set to the labor room. So it all depends on my cricket schedule.

birth of your child is more important than you cricket schedule don’t worry usually bitrthing rooms have tv’s radios or whatever you want.

well...the father or the man being disgusted isnt the prob cause....its there own child y would they be duscusted anywayz it is a good point that the father has to read the adhan but soemtimes other ppl do it to for specific reasons lets say the father being not there at the moment etc....anywayz i think the the husband\father should b there with his wife becuz at that time the women needs someone to b with her in most cases the doctors nurses r strangers to her so needs someone to b with her..:)

Yes, it is permissible for him to be present when she is giving birth, because it is permissible for the husband to see all of his wife’s body with no exceptions.

Anas ibn Maalik (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) **and one of his wives used to do ghusl from janaabah from one vessel. **(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 264).

Yes it is okay Hareem to have your husband instead it is better to have your husband instead of anyone else.Once i remember someone asked maulana and he prefered it for be husband to be there when child is born.

sara a husband can be there for his wife to provide support for her…in fact seeing what she is going through can make him admire her even more. he doesnt have to see anything below the waist ..besides they typically use a curtain to cover her up from the waist down…so if he’s standing by her head…it’s all good lol

dont believe all these stupid articles…I am sure the men they were referring to were the ones that stood in the wrong place. Which reminds me…there are some men that actually record the baby coming out!! now that’s gross!! and yea I can see why they would be disgusted and totally turned off because of it.
