A Man with his wife during childbirth

:bism:

:salam:

Islamically is it ok for men to be with their wives during childbirth in the hospitals?

:jazak:

Re: A Man with his wife during childbirth

Why not? Husbands and wives are like garments to each other, there is nothing hidden or secretive between them. There might be a personal or cultural issue here but definitely there is no Islamic issue. (IMHO)

Re: A Man with his wife during childbirth

Um I read an article somewhere...where the men who saw their wives give birth , it really ruined thier love life afterwards coz they kept thinking of THAT...

I dont think there's any religious issue... personally, thats up to each individual..

Re: A Man with his wife during childbirth

^ I doubt it. My dad saw both of his kids born - and my parents are more romantic than I'd like them to be.

Re: A Man with his wife during childbirth

NVM i cant find the article.. but I do remember reading it... whoever wants to have thier husband there will, whoever doesn't, wont..

Re: A Man with his wife during childbirth

Why bring religion to every issue? no wonder whenever there is a disturbance in Pakistan, they bring religion as a excuse.

Re: A Man with his wife during childbirth

Wow...

It's a brave man that can watch that. We had to watch a childbirth video in Biology... put me off having kids for a while...

But now I'm OK... so just need a shaadi

Re: A Man with his wife during childbirth

Yeah I saw that article too.... i dont know if i want my husband there or not though

Re: A Man with his wife during childbirth

Hareem,

I thought it was customary for the father to recite the Adhan in the newborns ear, so that it is the *first *thing he/she hears...

No way, that can't be the first thing. The first thing babies hear is a bunch of medical ppl screaming "it's a boy" or "it's a girl".

Most ppl are present at the birth of their children now a days and have no problems afterwards. Ofcousre there can be few exceptions.

Re: A Man with his wife during childbirth

sara a husband can be there for his wife to provide support for her....in fact seeing what she is going through can make him admire her even more. he doesnt have to see anything below the waist ..besides they typically use a curtain to cover her up from the waist down...so if he's standing by her head...it's all good lol

dont believe all these stupid articles.....I am sure the men they were referring to were the ones that stood in the wrong place. Which reminds me...there are some men that actually record the baby coming out!! now that's gross!! and yea I can see why they would be disgusted and totally turned off because of it.

Re: A Man with his wife during childbirth

good point....

Re: A Man with his wife during childbirth

The first thing that is spoken to the baby is perhaps more specific.

Most people where? Globally, across cultures, I'd say it's still a matter of wife + midwife and perhaps close female relatives.

Most of my female cousins admit they'd rather prefer the company of their mothers than their husbands in that situation.

As people wish...no matter.

Re: A Man with his wife during childbirth

Depends on the individuals, i am certainly not the type who wants my husband around, i will kill him if he's there.

Re: A Man with his wife during childbirth

That exactly how it happened. You stand closer to your wife's upper body. During the birth of my first daughter I was not inside the theater but the second time I was there with my wife. And yes it did make me appreciate a lot more than earlier.

Re: A Man with his wife during childbirth

ull be blaming him for all the pain :D

Re: A Man with his wife during childbirth

I have never seen anyone drapped when it is actual time of birth. & Most men consider the baby coming out to be the most beautiful experience and miracle of their life and are not turned off by it.
But I personally find entire childbirth process to be disgusting.

Re: A Man with his wife during childbirth

yeah :D too bad he'll be dead before he can show his appreciation
