I can understand the girls desire to keep her parents happy-afterall in Islam we are taught to bring happiness to our parents, support them, be good offspring and so on and when someone converts they of course take on this even more thus wanting to make their parents happy. Plus it must be hard for her parents to sit back and watch their daughter they brought up as a hindu (I'm assuming practicing hence the desire of the saath paare).
Would her parents be willing to possibly have a function which contains bits of hinduism in it rather than having the saath paare followed by the nikkah? They could then invite all their family/friends who may also be finding things quite hard to digest but will be familiar with the ceremony? Just a thought though.
