I have a good friend who was telling me how her and SO got into a heated argument over the Amir Liaquat scandal (yes, no joke). Basically, she was anti-Amir and he was pro-Amir saying how just because he was caught using that kind of language shouldn’t downplay his good deeds which include spreading the message of Islam etc.
Anyways, my friend got really annoyed that he was missing the point and she ended up repeating the words of Amir Liaquat which included repeating the maa/behn swear words he had said in those videos. The guy hung up as soon as he heard her say them, girl calls back, he ignores her calls. Finally he texts saying “had you said that in front of me, I would have slapped you on the face” and my friend upon reading this bursts out crying.
They eventually talk it out and she is hysterically crying while talking to him saying “how dare you say you would do that to me?” and the guy consoles her saying he didn’t mean it and of course he wouldn’t slap her but he doesn’t want her to use those kinds of words regardless of the context they were said under. He was shocked at how much it affected her since she has never cried like that.
They are fine now but she still kind of turned-off by the whole thing wondering how he would say to her and lose his temper like that. What would you guys suggest to her? Who is at fault, the guy or the girl? Is this a deal-breaker or a red flag?
^Yeah, something like, "How is it islamic to say insert the exact words of Amir Liaquat?".
The thing is, she is NOT one to use words of desi gaaliyan but he felt it was disrespectful that she said this in front of him or perhaps said them at all. Both of them use english swear words but the Urdu ones threw him of or something, I dont know.
She was quoting him, he can't get offended, it's not like it was directed specifically to HIM. Also, he can't be pro-Amir if he wants to pick and choose what he likes about him.
He didnt like her saying desi galiyan even in a quote... i can see he cant appreciate it since desi galiyan come off really harsh n not decent...
But his reply was still too much... guess she hit a nerve n he got so pissed off... poehhh anger management...
i would be shocked but wouldnt call off everything considering the rest of him and also how he made up for it? but will stay more alert to find out if these were just words or will there n actions too...

What a dumbo.
Ditto. The guy is weirding me out too but I dont want to say anything in case she starts overreacting to it, especially now when they are normal once again.

hmmm hard
The guy does have a temper and can be unreasonable at times. They have been together for a few years so obviously they dont want to end anything but still is scary from a girl's perspective since you can't figure these things out unless you're living together.
What if it was?
Well, then she needs to figure out whether she wants to live with a guy like that and marry him?
hahahahahaha....that is too funny..the guy was obviously shocked she sweared....I swear in english too...and so does my hubby...but even I hate it if he swears in Urdu..I dnt know why..it jst sounds more vulgar!!! Same with him...he jst hates it when I swear in any language period.
I really dnt think she should take it as a red flag just coz he said that he would slap her if she had been in front of him...I dnt know...sometimes guys say STUPID things..honestly I dnt know..
Maybe she should make him mad for some other things and see how he reacts :p

True so why doesn't he get all worked up when she says swear words in English? He says them too, but apparently Urdu words sound a lot harsh, esp. coming from a girl.
I'd be hurt/offended....but I wouldn't see it as a deal breaker...more like a moment of stupidity. I'd talk to him about it though and let him know it's unacceptable. They need to discuss the matter if she's still bothered by it.
