Re: a gun in your house

6 million ways to kill, choose one.

Re: a gun in your house

Having gun is good idea. More important is people around ypur house should know that you have it.
Some time in summer take it in your backyar to clean it.
If you state rules allow --then carry it in you car the way people can see it.

down side:::
make sure you have very secure place to lock it.
Where kids can't reach in million years.

never ever assume a gun "EMPTY" even if it is.
never ever point it towards some one.

once in while teach kids in the house to to handle guns. And how"NOT TO" point it towards any one in any case.

Re: a gun in your house

Check the state laws on background checks and waiting period. In only 2 states you can purchase anything and nobody would bat an eye.

If you have a security system (ADT), strong windows, motion sensors on windows, a mobile phone and family trained to react in emergency situations (safe places, verbal codes for exiting the house and heading to a neighbor friend), you don't need a gun in the house.

If you live in a country/rural area, where you property is frequented by wild animals & nearest police station is 5 miles away, you need a gun without a question.

Problem with owning a gun in the house and have learned to use it inculcates a mindset that you'll want to use it when someone enters your house. That situation in itself is pretty troublesome. If you shoot someone (and wound him or debalitate him for life) who later claims that he thought it was his friend's home, you could potentially have a BIG lawsuit in your hands. I suggest you google some home shooting cases in your state as well as the law suits that followed. People spin all sorts of stories when they are arrested.

Another problem I see with a gun in a urban setting is god forbid it ever goes off accidently and bullets punch thru your walls and hit someone or damage property outside; that's another lawsuit.

If you do want a weapon in the house in case of hand-to-hand defense, invest a shiny and sturdy Rawlings baseball bat. Those things hurt like a m**f. If you must have a weapon, check out tasers. The taser technology has advanced a lot. They are great non-lethal detterents (sp?) that you can use at a good defensive distance against an intruder.

Re: a gun in your house

Great topic! My dad has always had a licensed revolver for self defence. Hes been very careful about it, kept it locked and very few times as kids we even saw it, unloaded ofcourse.

There was however a very tragic incident in Rawalpindi that I must mention here. An uncle of mine, his only son died when he actually entered his cousin's room to greet him and his cousin was inside cleaning his revolver, and as soon as that guy entered his room his cousin tried to scare him, and the tragedy happened, he accidently got shot right in the heart. He was about 16 and it was a huge tragedy for that family.

I guess it all boils down to how responsible a person is. I have seen people carry around revolvers even if they take a relaxing stroll in their gardens, but they are very careful about it. In Pakistna its also very important to keep your weapon clean after regular intervals, as alot of them are 'darra made' and the rust risks an internal explosion which can result in blowing your hand to bits. Oh and one example of people who dont deserve to have weapons are the ones that fire live ammo in shadiz etc!

Re: a gun in your house

good points everyone, tasers are a good options to look into.
yeah guns.. u hafta be very careful, my coach in undergrad had an accident cleaning his gun and shot himself, paralyzed from waist down, his soccer playing career at an international stage over..

Re: a gun in your house

Pir Saab Uncle... If the ppl from my province are involved in the QUestion too :D

I have lots of Guns.. not only one ;)

My First Personal Walther point Three two gun I bought that I used to carry, I think I was in 10th or 11th grade.

So... In Short it depends where U r living... If U r living in safe place as U mentioned then U should only have one Good Hang gun... Kam az kam... 9mm of some good brand ;) Baretta, Glock, Walther etc :p

And.. U dont have to keep the Gun out of the reach of kids.... Just keep the Bullets in different Place.. so those are out of reach of Children ;)

Re: a gun in your house

I am against guns ... would rather die than to kill someone.

Re: a gun in your house

I dont believe there is such a thing as "out of reach of the children". I remember as a kid my mom used to hide things and we'd pretty much find whatever she hid, and even made it a point sometimes to find something.

So no, I would never keep a gun in the house. I once lived in a not so great neighborhood but we still never kept a gun.

Re: a gun in your house

In Ancient Times... there used to be Swords... So almost all Sahaba's used to keep swords... not kay they just wanted to kill ppl .. :)

At that time... Swords n Arrows were weapons.. now Guns are Weapons... Zarori tou naheN kay U will have to Kill someone if U have a gun :D

Re: a gun in your house

No point having a gun when u don't know how to use it. this is true this man had a gun in Pak and when thief came to him, he didn't know how to use it, so they said to him in pujabi "learn to use this mother first".

Re: a gun in your house

Tou have it and Learn how to use it na… :smack:

Re: a gun in your house

I know how to use guns, just ecause I dont own any does not mean I have not fired em. been hunting, range shooting, and hey..almost anyone in college in Pakistan has shot a gun..:)

Re: a gun in your house

what if its not just about you, but your children. would you rather have someone kill them or hurt them, than kill/injure that someone?

Re: a gun in your house

Having a gun in the house is quite normal, depends on your perspective.
By the way! A gun , is like property, that you hand down to your son, Moroosee Jaidada so b4 you get rid of it think twice.
