a gift from the gods

It appears that Gujrat and MP have used the democratic process to bring to their constitutency a gift from their god that finally reflects the people’s desires.. fresh, bottled cow urine.

Now far be it for me to make fun of a faith that has 1 billion people adhering to it, but seriously, what the CRAP? I mean .. come on. You, who claim to be the new light to nations, India Rising, the peaceful age old sagacious civilisation that never invaded anybody and thus can boast of.. something or the other.. (if you try hard and nobody is around to pick holes), you the leaders of the IT boom and the annoying voices and grammar on Compaq customer support…

How can you possibly, in this day and age, bring yourself to drink bottled urine?

Theres more than a few Hindus here, I would like to know how a state government can market this incredibly ridiculous idea, belittling everything humankind has collectively accomplished, no not as everyone thought: sycophancy and wannabeism, but through allowing a creature as stupid as a cow to play R. Kelly all over u?

The urine, which is being sold under the label “Gift of the Cow”, is being enthusiastically promoted by the government of Gujarat, one of three states in India dominated by Hindu nationalists.

The urine is collected daily from almost 600 shelters for rescued and wounded cattle set up by the Vishwa Hindu Parisad (VHP), or World Council of Holy men, as part of a government cow-protection programme to save the country’s sacred, but often maltreated, beasts.

Advertised as being “sterilised and completely fresh” it is available for 20 rupees (30p) a bottle at about 50 centres run by the VHP in Gujerat, from 200 of their outlets in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, and at fairs and religious festivals throughout India.

It also comes in tablets or a cream mixed with other traditional medicinal herbs. Demand is currently outstripping supply.

I'll never understand. That is just so disgusting.

you should be happy we are not eating pakistanis for dinner.

Re: a gift from the gods

SOunds interesting. Never underestimate the power of democracy. Beats anything as silly as khilafah anyday. Plus, if it poses no health dangers, then go for it. Unlike some othr more feeble systems of gov’t (shhhh shariah)..If such practices are not for the common good of the people then the democratic prcess can also make the laws go away ro can be changed. Plus lts see if the I bilion people take to the phenomenon.

Yes, according to Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, most economic surveys. India is well on the road to be an economic powerhouse. It just sounds like sour grapes, considering you guys are busy blowing yourselves up. Not for me to make fun of a religion..but come on!

Oh as far as bad voices and grammar, don;t worry Indian companies will set up centers in Lahore soon to take advantage of the cost arbitrage. Sure the quality would suffer because of laziness but hat is the price ot pay for cheap labor:hehe:

I have heard that Camel urine has also been drank in certain parts of the world too sensitive to mention. :hehe:

How is it belittling everything mankind has developed. Openess to new sciences and techniques is what humanity is all about. There is continous research done on animals for medicinal purposes. Urine and animal waste is used in pesticides and fertilizers. Pigs organs are being tested for human transplants, don;t be surprised if in a few years that becomes a reality. wouldn’t that be a pisser eh!

Moral of the story is you are trying too hard…slow down…yur head might hurt. :flower1:

you're cannibals too? You might have trouble digesting Pakistanis.

matsui--- you dont think drinking urine is disgusting? Animal waste is used as fertilizer , but drinking urine is a completely different story. Its just so gross.

a new item dated 09/02/2001.

how relevant. there in lies the major difference in class between indians and pakistanis.

MQ, I agree, I find it gross too. But the question Ravage mian asked was that is it against all things human and natural. I would like to ask, if such is the case then so is marrying your cousin, no? Atleast drinking urine, if it is harmful, you are hurting yourself. But producing babies with two noses is just disgusting.

Re: Re: a gift from the gods

oho.. seems I might’ve taken a piss at the expense of sacred cows. but then again, thats what hinduism is all about eh.

rvikz, matsui, where, cite me a single region in pakistan or the gulf, does the goverment actually sell animal piss? most of us have moved on, and everyone knows that what may find its way into the books isnt necessarily the word of god. Making technological progress and knowing what we know now, and still drinking urine is frikkin unbelievable.

As for “research”, there was a US grant sponsored study after lobbying by Hindutva camps to investigate the potential beneficial effects of piss in humans. Take a wild guess.

hahahah…I thought since ravage took so much time trying to weave a consmic tale of Indian history, the hindu religion, the economic outlook, bad accents at call canters…the least he deserves is a fitting reply.

He should have just looked up the thread we had a couple of years ago on this. :hehe:

Re: a gift from the gods

Funny, considering its the summer season, why didn’t they come up with frozen cow urine? Kids are suckers for popsicles you know. I thought Indians had better business sense than that :smash:

hey a good bit in the 2001s is still a good bit today. Matsui, thand maro. go take a cow piss or something.

looks like hindus arent the only fans of animal urine.

all replete with hadeeth references, modern science studies on benefits of animal urine.

people who live in glass houses…

Well Hindus think cows are sacred creatures and all, but drinking their urine is kind of scary.I mean people can actually do that- just the thought gives me shivers. Reminds me of a story my mom told me once.In Pakistan, there used to be some old man in the neighbourhood, who the people thought was good luck or something. So when he went to the bathroom ,they used to pick up his waste with their hands, and think it would help them.

I just think the whole idea of having anything to do with waste is twisted. Doesnt matter what benefits it might have- there have to be negative aspects to it.For heavens sake its waste. Does drinking urine actually have anything to do with the religion itself?

In china, the gov't charcuteries sell pig intestines for food. Guess what, theya re delicious. They don;t sell that in Pakistan or the gulf either. what is your point? Pakistan or the gulf might not sell urine but they sure sell dreams of jannat and houris to suicide bombers which is far worse.

Vedas suggest per that article that al parts of the cow are considered sacred. Now if someone takes that to mean Urine, then that is their interpretation. But that person need not worry, no other hindu who doesn;t agree with him will throw him out of the religion or slash his throat. :)

Responding to the question, the eminent Muslim scholar, Sheikh `Abdel Khaliq Hasan Ash-Shareef, states the following:

“According to a Hadith narrated by Imam Al-Bukhari in his Sahih, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), told Muslims to go out behind camels and drink their urine in treatment of illness.

queerio.. this bit is unbelievable because of the STATE's manufacture of it and its DEMAND exceeding its supply.

I've had prerek drinking cow urine for two years next to me, i dont give.. oddballs exist. But when whole states adopt Urine as state policy..thats troubling.

Excreta my friend. major difference between organs however disgusting they may be, and waste material.

One difference in your convoluted argument, this camel urine was used for medical purposes not as a substitute for Coca-Cola

are you saying the state is higher than Allah? tsk.

camel urine as medication prescribed by the prophet is fine, but ignorant mushrik hindus do it and it's funny and troubling.

for crying out loud...
