I had lunch today with Hazrat Madhanee and got into an argument on politics, I said that Musharraf was doing just fine and Madhanee disagreed. What pissed me off about Madhanee Jee was that he told me and I quote " tu abhi choota heh, jab bara ho ga to baat karna". Now all I said was that Pakistan is not ready for democracy and that it would take some time to get the grass root levels set by musharraf, what he said was that no paksitani people should be left to decide what they want, he citied examples from India and I cited examples from NASA (and the fact that people that built apollo 11 were not recognized rather the astronauts), we could not get strike a compromise so he switched subject to speed limits.
I want to hear from guppies if Musharraf rule is good for the country or should the illiterates decide whom to vote. I say Musharraf is good what do you say?
Please leave this in general section, you can ban me later.
Verzi, I disagreed with you then, and I disagree with you now. Mushi is little piece of crap, and I would rather have a popularly elected Mullah to be our head of nation than some ashole heading us with a gun in his hands.
Faisal Bhaijan, when I say popularly elected, I mean popularly elected time and again, and not just a one shot deal. I have a lot more confidence in Pakistani people than you do, and I am sure that they are capable of electing the right people if give a chance.
Madhanee and this is where I disagree with you aswell, you side stepped this today and you are side stepping this now, tell me where exactly did mushie go wrong?
I say Mushie is doing the right thing and you say that people shoul decide, I say people are not ready and you bring in the indians and their track record, I tell you that indians had 40 years of India Congress rule them so it is onwe and the same thing and you change the subject. talk to me baby.
Madhanee I agree ppl should be given a choice but as long as they realize what they are choosing. In Pakistan's case that is not happening a politician is put in power with a yellow cab scheme (mawaz sharif) or a on the theme of "roti kapra aur makan". Which is fine it happens in other places as well but atleast there is an asterisk with (certain restricitions apply in the bottom) well till Pakistan comes up to that level I say Dictator ship is good. Now tell me that I am a chota.
Verzi… I dont give a damn about what excuses they come up with (RKM) or (Cabs) at least they are coming thru proper channels. If Pakistanis are dumb, so be it, but let them at least learn how to pick people to rule over them. This is not Khilafat…this is Paksitan.
You are wrong man. Let me ask you a question would you throw your kids in a swimming pool without teaching them how to swim? or would you give them lessons and then throw them in the pool?
but I would survive I am a survivor (or as NYers say I am a survivah). Faisal is right when you have nothing to say you just side step the whole subject. Thank you come again.
I used to share the same pristine sentiments, and I probably still do to an extent. However, more and more when I talk to people in Pakistan, seems to me the influence of religious-based political parties is extending out of NWFP and Balochistan. Obviously the proof is in the proverbial pudding, when the next “free and fair” elections are held, but simply said, I will not be holding victory rallies if religious-based political parties are ruling the roost in Islamabad. But I will defend the right of our people to make their choice, however much I disagree with their choice. Thats the essence of democracy.
I dont thing education has anything to do with elections, other than for the people who are elected. I dont think that even in the US in their early elections there was any restriction based on education of the voters. As a democracy every citizen should have the right to vote. If the General really wanted democracy to be established at grassroots level then Pakistan should have had two elections by now. But, I hope he realizes that his legacy is not going to be any different than the Zia or Ayub, he is just another Status quo leader.
i agree with u…pakistan is not ready democracry…musharraf shud stay as long as he can…otherwise we can go back with Nawaz shareef and qaum ko lootna shuroo kartay hai with more schemes like peeli taxi, or with BB and eventually sell pakistan and claim 10% …or with MMA and burn all the KFC’s in our country
Brief american history lesson: when the “people” were allowed to vote, it included rich white men. Only in the 1920s to the 1960s were women and blacks allowed to vote as well.. That sounds nice and stuff, every citizen shud have the right to vote, but that’s not the case. I don’t think that will apply to Pakistan…
We've always had democracy and people are most threatened by 'radical' Islam...
Since its creation, Pakistan has had strifes...All during either democracy, martial law, a little stint with socialism too or simply the most recent one, a coup de tat...
Since its creation, Pakistan has had never had Islam as its primary source of law...It's always been a hodge podge of Shariah, British and with a smattering of personal laws enacted by corrupt politicians in their time...Our confused, but very mod-Muslim policemen, bureaucrats and politicians are the most corrupt in the world, 'coz they got nothing solid to follow...
Musharraf for now may be well and good, but what then? Another mod-Muslim despot?
The first thing many would want to slap in my face is the example of the Taliban and the 'brutal' regime they led...
Verizon Bhaiyya, do not be misled into believing the media...6 million lives were incinerated in actual, working factories built by Germans to kill humans and thanks to the subtle power of suggestion via propaganda, they did it with a smile and song in their heart...
The Taliban were the best thing to come to Afghanistan...After decades, they had brought security in generations of those who never knew it...
We don't need Mushy...We need Mullahs, we need fearless and honest people, not puppets on strings...
