Re: a formal outfit for within 10,000 pkr?
i think its nearly impossible to get these days any "formal suits" in this price range...but you can ask few homebased designers...
Re: a formal outfit for within 10,000 pkr?

Re: a formal outfit for within 10,000 pkr?
u can only if u ask some friend/relative in pak to help u out. if u buy from anyone on FB or even GS they just keep lot of margin.

I think you are right Mabrook...it's just that relatives always end up making stuff that's unwearable!:(
Re: a formal outfit for within 10,000 pkr?
Well i dont know it may sound untrue but I had a suit with resham kaam and some studs on it, It was on Pure Grip silk and its costed me aorund 7500 and that was in 2010 only not that far. It was a good semi formal wear although i wear on my sis in law's wedding but I dont wear heavy kaam so it was perfect for me. If you dont use pure material then also you can make a suit under 10,000.
Re: a formal outfit for within 10,000 pkr?
With due apology, I don't know how some of you have this wrong conception about us keeping lot of margin in the dresses. I strongly disagree. To create a decent looking dress, you require good quality fabric (if not pure), kaam should be from good karigar + with all pure /high quality material (there r 2 types of kaam hand and machine work with hand touching on it ) . Good Stitching with all the minor detailing like neatness/pipn/applique work etc hand stitched dupatta/turpai, and not to forget the dying Cost, Extra fabric for finishing n pipn or lace or brooches or motifs etc.
Cost of Good quality Fabric. 4 piece suit (Almost all the suits are 4 piece),
Charges of Good kaam / Karigar
Charges of a Good Taylor (nowadays even for stitching lawn suits charge no less than 2500 to 3000 or just for shirt 1500 n up depending upon the style (the more style/neatness extra work the more the charges !
Don't forget our creativity/ hard work/efforts involved for creating a designer outfit, deserves to add to charges a little more. Despite saving you from all the stress of visiting various markets in search of right/good quality fabric, then going to dyer and making sure to get the right shade after many trips it finally gets to the taylor for cutting panels n sleeves, after that taking the cuttings back to kaam wala for kaam, even for kaam we need to make several trips just to ensure the quality of kaam. Then taking it back to the taylor for stitching. In order to have them stitch the right size and design again it requires a few more trips to the taylor. Dont forget if God forbids something goes wrong that too is very common as they often do not follow the instruction and make mistakes, meeting deadlines with all constraints is a lot of work. Even after all that hastle bastle if something goes wrong we are the one who takes all losses. All these trips cost fuel and other charges, and many other misc charges. After all the expense and stressful efforts, what we most of the time get at the end hardly justifies the effort and hard work we put in creating these dresses. Not to forget about 5 to 6 hours of our time on a daily basis just in maintaining our fb page/Email Account/GS for replying to every single query/email on a regular basis. It all takes a lot of effort.
I wonder how anyone can complain after all their stress and efforts been transferred to us and their dresses been practically delivered to their door steps. I do understand someone complaining if they didn’t get anything even close to what they wanted. I believe just by saying that we are taking too much profit is totally not justified you your behalf. I strongly suggest to pls go out and check the market out and please be current on the prices of stitching, material/ and kaam now a days. Many of the dresses in designers outlets are mostly made of regular material, have very light or sometimes clumsy kaam, and have regular stitching and almost all of those dresses are 2 or one pieces, still they are being sold for prices almost double than what we offer … and I am not talking about the high end designers, these are regular designers. Despite our best possible material, kaam, and best stitching that we can provide, we are offering 4 piece suits for half the price. Trust me prices of everything in Pakistan have gone sky high. Please give some credit to these hardworking professionals who are putting a lot of effort in a very unrewarding business.
Thanks
Re: a formal outfit for within 10,000 pkr?

Re: a formal outfit for within 10,000 pkr?
If you are based in Lahore, I maybe able to help you out. I got a fancy Eid suit, tent kameez style, made for me in Lahore by this guy, who has associations with HSY. I just paid 8k for it. This was a month ago.

Re: a formal outfit for within 10,000 pkr?
No dear its not about you but I have seen many people at different threads and forums who have this misconception about** US**. It really hurts sometimes, so I just thought to clear this misconception and tell about our side of story as well ... :)
Believe me I'm really passionate about my work and put my sincere efforts in creating an outfit and really get happy when I see happiness on my clients face when they like / appreciate my dresses, and feel their money was worth it. Sometimes some of my clients even cried in happiness when they receive their outfit and appreciated my efforts. That's the feeling that keeps me going even though often I get very little in return for creating an outfit but I keep doing it just out of my passion for designing. :)
Re: a formal outfit for within 10,000 pkr?
again not meaning to hurt u but when u replicate u need to stick to design n material so it might cost more but when u have open choice dresses can made economically depending how much creative a person is. also buying fancy fabric n getting it stitched also saves money.
anyways alishat there's Natasha Couture on fb which sells indian suits stitched n unstitched chk that out.
Re: a formal outfit for within 10,000 pkr?
Anyways I donot intend to start a debate here, No matter what yo do nothing can bring the price tag half a price. ..

With all due respect.....if the business is so unrewarding....why are there so many people in it? And why do those that are successful continue? In your case it may be because of the sheer joy of seeing your creation make someone happy. I'm not sure that is the case for the majority.....you are a rare bird.
You make valid points about keeping abreast of the current costs, good karigars, quality of fabric and embroidery. These are all very relevant arguments. By the same token, as a consumer/end user of the services that you are providing, I expect you to have a complete directory of resources at your disposal including designs, fabric vendors and karigars. I expect you to source these vendors and karigars only once to cater to many rather than the many to many ratio. I expect the "middleman" to provide these benefits for a reasonable cost....not an exorbitant one.....because you are not repeating every part of the process for each customer. You should definitely make a buck for managing your directory but work on the expectation that you will grow from volume, not from every single order.
Also as a consumer I expect that you will not be charging the same rates that a retailer expects since you most certainly do not have the same expenses. You do not pay anyone rent and primarily Facebook and Gupshup provides you with FREE advertising space. Yes, updating your page and answering queries may be taking your time but on the flip side, those queries are being generated for you at no cost whatsoever (i.e. you have not paid a single penny for an advertising campaign). In the alternative scenario, you would have paid thousands and still have spent the same time answering emails and uploading new pics of your work to your websites.
Again.....no disrespect meant but some on-line vendors have been taking pure advantage......fortunately, they don't stay in business for very long.
Just sharing the story from the other side.....
Re: a formal outfit for within 10,000 pkr?
Just want to touch on teh stitching costs--
In 2010, I paid 800-1000 for stitching suits....while they delivered on time (I know, that's shocking right there), it was....blah. the fitting wasn't too great at all and the galas were simple rounded galas. Another darzi (who disappeared for 2 weeks and said he was held hostage to make clothing somewhere) didn't even make the outfit to my size! and these were all simple shalwar kameez, not the ones that are curretnly in style.
On the other hand, I paid 400 or so to a neighborhood darzan (one of those aunties who works out of home...not a professional darzi), and that stitching was just amazing as well--but I would never count on that as a regular thing..if you don't live in Pakistan or have someone always willing to go out of their way to shop for you, that's not always an option.
Plus, with all the fancy pleating and detailing, and the panels and all.....stitching does end up costing the same amt as some suits..
Re: a formal outfit for within 10,000 pkr?
i went to pak in june 2011 and the stitching for panel shirts n all that never came to 2000-2500, max was 1500even for chiffon and still ppl told me that shop was taking more but then there were high end darzis charging 3000rs for lawn suits too so as Muzna said as a consumer u do learn abt better rates and places. Also i went to khulla bazaar there the cloth was really cheap n other than cotton, lawn mostly those fabrics r no way low quality.
my hubby went to pak this yr and bought me many cotton/lawn stitched suits for 2000-2500rs. they had cotton dupattas instead of chiffon but the shirts r really nice. i threw the dupata n their trouser pants away n when i wear them with leggings ppl ask me where i got the shirt from. A friend of mine who goes Pak every year told me most of her suits were from thread n motifs n she bought them for 5-10k where if u ask anyone online they will charge u 150-300 easily. I myself saw a very delicate n elegant formal dress for 8k @ Chineyere.
Obviously not everyone in pak wears 15-20k formals.
Re: a formal outfit for within 10,000 pkr?
Some of the online designers DO charge way too much....esp the ones who are local, hold exhibitions etc....they charge hundreds for outfits that cost much less than half.
