Mashallah, this is a German Mnagazine praising the unprecedented economic growth under President Musharraf. I could not have said it any better myself.
German newspaper lauds Musharraf’s economic policy
Sunday, November 04, 2007
ISLAMABAD: Having come to power in 1999, Gen Pervez Musharraf managed to revive the country’s economy like never before. “With the help of former Citibank deputy Shaukat Aziz serving as prime minister and finance minister, yearly growth rates exceeded six per cent during the past five years,” says the daily Handelsblatt, German newspaper in an article published on Pakistan’s economy recently.
The article on Pakistan’s economy is published with picture a picture captioned: “A father of the economic miracle in Pakistan: Army Chief Pervez Musharraf”. The article said for how long can a booming economy withstand political chaos without suffering? More and more entrepreneurs and bankers wonder in
Pakistan. Because: the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country at the index grows at the expected rate of seven per cent this year. Karachi’s stock exchange index KSE-100 is aiming at an all-time high. German-Pakistani foreign trade might hit the two-billion euro record this year. Having come to power in 1999, Musharraf managed to revive the country’s economy like never before. The GDP per capita of the fiscal year 2007 that ended in June was at $935, thus beating that of the big rival India.
Foreign direct investment has risen to an all-time high of $8.4 billion, the gold and monetary reserves to more than $16 billion. The paper added that corporation tax was reduced to 35 per cent, tax declarations can be made via email. But the biggest present obstacle is the polity. Pakistan’s entrepreneur chief Ashraf Tabani says: “The political fight for power comes at a very bad time now.” Economic expert Javed Mehmud agrees to that. “The economy is not strong enough yet to get over political setbacks for an unlimited time,” he writes.

Re: 'A father of the economic miracle in Pakistan: Army Chief Pervez Musharraf'
In my opinion, Musharraf needs to act like a bad ass dictator
he needs to take on the tribals with the full might of the pakistan army
It's really a shame when you advocate actions above the law....your beilief system which has no respect for institutional justice is really surprising...However i have news for you...still in the year 2007 there is no other system which is better than institutional justice invented until now>>>
Re: 'A father of the economic miracle in Pakistan: Army Chief Pervez Musharraf'
I trust Mushie's economic policies more than the others (IK, BB, NS)--but I don't agree with him arresting these other politicians except for BB. I agree with the conspiracy theories that BB's in on it. I also think the US and UK are supporting him providing that there are elections by Jan even though publicly they're saying they're against it.
Do you all think PK will be stable within a month or two? I know BA is still operating it's flights and hasn't canceled them in/out of islamabad.

That's a very accurate assessment.
Yes, I think all will be stable pretty quickly, so no need to worry.

I can't believe that some people are still supporting him.
haven't you seen people still supporting Bibi or Nawaz Sharif even after their 2 circus in 1990s? so why should Musharraf's supporter be any different?
