A Day In The Life of A Star

ZQ to be more precise! Who saw it and how many people passed out? Is she a foreign return by the way? And they call it the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

A family that recently came from Pakistan and happened to see some videos on Geo, Prime and ARY at our place said the videos they show back home are different. These are made for the non-Pakistani resident audience. I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t show such interviews back home either. Do they think smoking is really a norm for the girls outside of Pakistan? The comment that Sheru guy made …if we weren’t on camera I would have greeted you properly..or something like that…does it really leave much to the imagination? They might aswell have shown some hugging and kissing/pecks too.

Who is ZQ? I missed it. Do you know when it is repeated?

Re: A Day In The Life of A Star

Get Real. What they are showing - like it or not - is happening in Pakistan, and thats what the show is about - to show what REALLY happens in the life of a star. You're right - hugging etc. is no longer a big deal, but its its not like everyone is doing it - it is restricted to certain section. Its happening at all the elite campuses in the country, so one shouldnt be shocked any longer.

hugging and kissing is a big deal to me and i dont wanna watch that **** specially if my parents are around

sometimes i wonder if i am actually watching a pakistani channel

Rrrrright...and the rest of us can also adopt the Ostrich Syndrome....

ConfettiGuy I wasn't shocked at all really. I have known girls back home who did marijuana for funs sake, smoked, dated and all that stuff. I just wanted to point out that Pakistan is no longer the Pakistan it was many years ago were everything was hush hush. Or when people would have actually protested if they saw such things being done so openly. And as many Pakistani's like to believe the people they are living around are not angels and living abroad doesn't make one 'bad' and 'immoral'.

A family who have recently come from Pakistan happened to whatch some Geo, ARY and Prime at our place. They told us that the videos being shown here were not the ones they showed there. The ones shown there were not as unconservative. Probably to keep up with other channels shown on dish and stuff. Or maybe they also believe that the People living abroad are pretty liberal and lead unrestricted lives. Smoking, hugging, kissing, clubbing, dancing is no big deal for them and probably a part of their daily lives. Funny how its the people in Pakistan performing it on tv and the people watching it outside of Pakistan who are budnaam! :D

Femme, I disgree with your 'newly arrived' friends. They are just trying to save face. For some reason, they feel responsible may be?. Some of the GEO broadcast is simultanouslly shown in Pak and USA. I have noticed a paradigm shift in their talk shows too. Sex, drugs, corruption is discussed a lot more openly. I think your friends are comparing these programs to the "sheltered shiit" shown on PTV.

I saw ZQ's day out. Nothing shocked me. May be except for her lighting up the cigarette. But it wasn't a shock. It seemed genuine. I have seen desuns who smoke. Actually back in the 80's a few of my older female relatives did enjoy an occassional Capstain or Gold Leaf. It was cool. Interestingly enough none of my male family members (uncles, etc) ever smoked.

I think some of the female guppies here need to light up a beeRRi just for the heck of it.

FG I have heard that from more than one person. Don't know how far they are right.

I cannot stand the stench that comes from smokers and that is why I dislike it. I disapprove of it because its an unhealthy habit to keep. To me a man who smokes looks as repulsive as a woman who smokes. But our people ofcourse raise red flags if they see a woman smoking. Purpose was to point out that people in Pakistan are not leading restricted lives and its not just those living or having lived in the west that are unconservative. Nothing to be shocked about.

Again, who is ZQ?

I saw interesting stuff being shown on television when I was in Karachi. Primarily, the preview for the film Love in Tokyo which they kept repeating over and over and over again during the day. That left me speechless. Pure raunch.

Sorry for not answering earlier Mehnaz. ZQ is that girl Aniya from Mujhay Pyar Chahiyay.

I am so terrible with faces. I knew I have seen Zainab Qayoom in some other drama but just couldn't put it all together. Thanks, FF.
Waisay, I like the way she spells her last name. I have seen may different variations but this one seems the coolest.

What business is it of ours to tell other people how to live their lives over there anyway? If Pakistan is getting too 'maadern' then it's no different to anywhere else. It's like all these idiots who whinge about them watching Indian films. They can always turn the tv off if they don't want to watch the damn things.

Xtreme who told who how to live their life?

I'm not pointing fingers at you FF so relax :)

I'm talking about general attitudes from both sides. Pakistanis making assumptions about western desis, and vice versa. People who live in the respective countries have a better idea of their own situation so they should look out for themselves and quit worrying about what's going on 'over there'.

Thank you. Finally some sane words on this never ending debate.

Every other day you get Pakistanis in the west pointing fingers towards Pakistanis in Pakistan and telling them how corrupt they are etc etc. And the reaction from Pakistanis in Pak follows quite naturally and thus, continues the wonderful cycle. I don't understand what this futile practice is meant to achieve.

Lets face the truth: Things have changed in Pakistan - some of them for good and some for bad depending on your perspective. Lets not dwell on the negative. Instead we should encourage the good by playing what little part we can play in making Pakistan a great nation.

The comment that Sheru guy made ...if we weren't on camera I would have greeted you properly..

The guy sounds like shoda, wannabe.

Similar to most of your one-liners here.
