Lets face the truth: Things have changed in Pakistan -
Yes things have changed, but many things are still the same. It takes generations for peoples' attitudes and mentalities to change imho. Frankly, not the superficial things, but the things that really matter, haven't changed that much at all. The middle and lower classes specially haven't changed much. Upper classes, they've always been in their own world. There isn't much happening now in Pak that wasn't happenning twenty years ago imho. And no matter what, Pakistan is Pakistan and will always be Pakistan.

As for Amreeka, it is Amreeka. Amreeka is not Pakistan.

A true Pakistani though, from what I've seen, can live in Amreeka or Pakistan and remain a Pakistani. I've seen aunties and uncles who've lived in England or Amreeka for 30 plus years and when you meet them there, you get the warm feeling...I'm with a Pakistani....

Irem, what is a ‘true Pakistani’? I guess you are talking about their values?

Agreed! :k:

true true true!!! :jhanda:

CorruptAngel  thanks yaara

Hmmm…Mehnaz…I dono…I guess a true Pakistani, this is just my opinion…is someone who maintains the Pakistani traditions of hospitality and love for homeland and fellow countrypeople no matter where they r…not to mention their convos always revolve somehow around Pak :hehe:

People who still have a connection in their hearts with Pakistan…no matter where they r…that’s what I think a true Pakistani is

just my opinion

What business is it of ours to tell other people how to live their lives over there anyway? If Pakistan is getting too 'maadern' then it's no different to anywhere else. It's like all these idiots who whinge about them watching Indian films. They can always turn the tv off if they don't want to watch the damn things.
i dont care if these morons are getting too 'maadern' or not but i dont wanna see that maadern pana on tv..i pay for this channel and i dont believe these maadern ppl represent pakistan..and btw aap apna maadern pana apnay aap ruk rakhain

^ Are you guys saying becoming more modern is to become corrupt?

^if modern means to show ur skin, hug and kiss the opposite sex then what do u think..pakistan after all is a muslim country

It’s a disgust seeing all this filthy stuff on a Pakistani channel.. I mean Pakistan’s an Islamic country… :bummer: The way they try to portray that they are modernizing is pathetically cheap.. What’s so modern in doing all the kissing, hugging of the opp. gender?

Just my opinion abt it…

Meeting / greeting someone warmly by kissing / hugging is in no way "filthy". The difference is if it's actually done with actual feelings or "showoff". The later is sure cheap.

BTW, who's ZQ?

Tv as a relay media does this on purpose.
Its main objective is to, erase, erase, erase, slowly and gradualy the the “Taboo” of an alienated society, society of hardliners, anti feminists
and the famous of them all, women lib mgo’s. who realize that educating the masses have been a failure on more than one occassion. thus another approach to moderenize the whole society overnight.
The message is loud and clear.
Its ok if you’r a Woman who smoke
Its ok to waer an attire of your choice
Its ok to marry some one you love against all opposition
Its ok to talk about sharab and xtra merital relations
Its ok to talk back and deliver punch for punch

Remember the rebelion on PTV during 80’s over “dupata’s”
I believe that was a deliberate attempt to ensure there was an opposition to this restriction on the media, and secondly that debate overspilled to many other issues that the society was reluctant to talk about.
REBELION is the word here..very systamatic and now you know it and see it.
When the nxt generation takes over the “the filteration process” would be more visible, you shall see.
I personally believe that We can follow our religion more closely and
enjoy the best of it. The problem is the debate on certain issues of religion are so misleading and wrongly handled that creates fitna of hardliners who talk about izat and gairat rather then Quran and the correct authentic sunnah . The later is so much infused in the society through mula culture, this virus has no patch.

Seeing her smoke was just disgusting! She is not only representing Islam in a bad way but also betraying her country.....never imagiend her like this.

Does Islam have different guidelines for women who smoke as opposed to men who smoke?

No...Islam doesn't....it is said that anything that can harm your body is haram in Islam.
