Re: ...A couple of things...
I think part of the reason people make these kinds of comments is the insecurities they feel when they move here. The initiall months/years are often very unstable, and they may be very defenseive and self-coscious regarding their status, especially if they have relatives/friends that they interact with regularly who are more settled than they are.
It's only a matter of time, but that short period of instability can be very difficult for some.
So they keep reminding everyone that they aren't really poor or uneducated or anything. They were very well-established, etc etc.
The other thing is that they probably do sincerely miss Pakistan a lot. And their way of dealing with it is talking about it.
Certainly a lot of what we had in Pakistan we can have here, but it takes more work, and many people are not willing to put in that kind of work or take initiative.

^ Bataya na, the stupid university’s international student who I last saw on the night of Th aur woh tota chasham ki tarha aankhen chura raha tha
That just crossed the limit and I wanted everything out of my system that I had been holding on to for YEARS.
Amorpheus No. This is about no guppies. 2 incidents behind this are real life examples.
Sahar right, they may be reminding others that they were well established, which is fine. I don’t really care if they do mention it a couple of times, but to keep slapping that on your face again and again? It’s nice to know how someone was well established in Pakistan, but I really don’t care about it, so they don’t need to keep mentioning it to even make themselves feel better because nobody (especially me) isn’t thinking about how bad they are here and how well/bad would they be in Pakistan? And the second individual has been in the US for over 20 years, I think he should be over this fact now because he has had many chances to move back and settle?
It’s like a little boy who cries whiling eating chilies yet he keeps eating them and keeps crying.
