no im just saying that you lose meaning when translating words. People just take what is written and than they assume they know what it means. You have to know the linguistics of the word (ie english or arabic) before you can make a sound judgement.

The things I’m reading in this thread are getting more and more disturbing.
My dear, do you know what rape is about? It’s not about sex. It’s not about lust. It’s about control and power. It’s about rage and the need to cause pain. That is why women, regardless of what they are wearing, are raped.
I know of two hijabis who have been sexually assaulted by people in our very own community. They weren’t wearing low cut tops or prancing around in bikinis inviting men to molest them. It doesn’t have anything to do with what you are wearing. Was Mukhtaran Mai wearing revealing clothes? Her rape was about punishment. Not about pleasure.
A lot of these posts are so insulting towards men as well, who are deemed to be animals who are incapable of controlling themselves if they see any flesh. It’s insulting to women as well as men.
Actually, she’s right when she said that men need to be taught that women are not just objects to be abused, regardless of whether she’s in a hijab or not.
As long as the attitude is out there that women deserve to be raped and the men who do it are not in the wrong, then there is no hope at all.

perhaps if christians learned latin they would know what REAL christianity is all about. It’s a shame what people have made christianity into today.

hold on hold on!! who said anything about rape…not I!! in fact i already stated my view on rape. plz refer to my previous quote rather than putting words in my mouth. This post has nothing to do with rape. It has to do with respect. I simply said that women need to respect themselves and their bodies before they expect others to respect them.

Islam already teaches that. If people just followed Islam the way it is suppose to be followed than this world would be a much better place.

ANGEL-EYES...can u answer a few questions please?
1) since i am lost in translation and u KNOW the word is there...can u tell me why the scholars who translate(who MUST have command over arabic) from arabic to english did not add headgear?(they only put bosoms) i am not making it up "its a fact"
2) do u wear hijab?
3) if yes....do u think hijab is for practical purpose (protect yourself from rape) or for spiritual?
the world is not black and white angel eyes....its not either a tent or a low cut top. the truth is that relative to each time and custom a man WILL find a reason to both oogle and rape....if all women were in hijabs.., even prostitutes (for argument's sake) then the pervert would find some other reason to justify it.

You are speaking loud and clear Angel Eyes and your exchange with SD was about self-protection from rape. Men aren’t respecting women … but women themselves don’t have any self-respect cause they are wearing bikinis and low-cut tops, so how can men? What exactly is it that men are doing to these women that makes you think they don’t respect them? Why raping them of course and some how or another, they deserve it cause they aren’t wearing a hijab and it doesn’t matter if these women are even Muslim or not! 
I already know what Islam says Angel Eyes. It’s nice to see people jumping up and down, demanding that the Islamic rules of conduct be prescribed to women yet not to men though. 
Someone mentioned earlier how men are supposed to lower their gaze, but I guess that small fact got lost in the shuffle.

angel eyes if u are really serious abt preventing rape join women’s rights organizations …i bet they do a better job at preventing rape than a piece of cloth.
again its the repetitive excuse…“islam aint bad…its the people than are bad” doesnt cut it…

How come this thread is taking a twist into rape vs. hijaab?? I thought cressi post is mainly telling the points and reasons of wearing hijaab, then how come we are comparing one wearing hijaab or whther getting raped or not?
Shweetdreamz, I wear hijaab and I tell you what it is BOTH the practical purpose and a spiritual purpose. Spiritual because it is indeed OBLIGATORY on muslim woman no matter what kind a excuse you come with about not wearing the hijaab.
Please people, I ask to stop arguiing on something that is ALREADY stated with proof and guidelines.

well i would be one of those few…because today there are so many people that dont really understand Islam. they either become become extremists or they become so caught up in the western world they forget what Islam is all about.

There are evil men in all religions and all over the world. I NEVER implied that a hijabi woman cant/wont get raped.
You said it yourself rape is about control not sex. Lust IS about sex. When you show your body to other men they WILL look at you with lustful eyes. So why dress that way? why do women show their cleavage? why do women show their legs? or wear tight jeans to show they “behind”? is it because it makes the feel better? well you know very well why women dress that way! to get attention.
