**It is not a matter of letting women die (How easily you say that) till they receive medical treatment, it’s a matter of religious preference, choice and freedom…(Remember, these words apply to Muslims too, America didn’t copyright them)…
God-forbid, should the need ever arise that a women needs medical help and there are no female doctors around, no Muslim would hesitate to employ a male doctor’s services…**
But, if there is a law prohibiting women to be seen by male docs is that not contrary to your last statement itself. If the law says male physicians can not treat female patients, and there are not enough female docs, and specialists around, you are letting them die.
yes and give people the freedom of choice, if they dont want to go see male docs, no one is forcing them, however when this bill tries to disallow women from going to see male docs, it is taking the very freedom of choice and preference you just noted.
But thankfully, female doctors are plentiful in Pakistan, and many female doctors become lifelong friends of wives…Invited to parties, and weddings of the children they delivered…They are highly respected members of society…
Oh I know very well, as my sister is a medical college grad from pakistan herself.
And anyways, that’s why you’ve only heard of midwives, not midhusbands…
Midwives are somehat trained to assist in normal deliveries, that is about it. the health needs of women are not limited to childbirth. Something like an ectopic pregnancy can kill a woman if not caught in time and if not treated properly, these midwives and Dais are not expert surgeons and I doubt they even know the newest medical techniques.
So I understand what you are saying, but I doubt if your relatives ever went a male doctor for personal or private matters…
Depends what you mean a private matter? I know that when my sister was fighting for her life against cancer, she sought the best physicians, some were male and some were female.
**Apart from that, I don’t think any Muslim woman would like to consult a male doctor about their personal and private problems…I don’t know any… **
well then get to know muslim women, because as much as they would prefer a female physician, if the expertise is not available and they have no other option that is what they will have to see someone else.
And lets be clear once again, This “personal and private matters” that you speak of, are defintely not the only issues that ned medical attention now..are they?
