A Brief Summary of the Rules of Fasting

:salam2:

All Praise is due to Allah SWT, the Lord of the worlds and may the Peace and blessings of Allah be upon his noblest Prophet and Messenger Muhammad :saw2: and upon all his family member and righteous companions.

The month of ramadan is the month of worship and seeking nearness to Allah SWT. Allah SWT has made this month unique from all other months of the year by making worship in this month to be better than worship in any other month of the year. This is the month in which Allah SWT prescribed the obligation of fasting and sent down the Holy Qur’an (Revelation) as a guidance for people (Mankind) and clear prrofs of the guidance and the criterion.

**From this stand point, we saw it fit to present it to our dear brothers and sisters, a brief summary of the legal rulings of fasting so as to save them the effort and time in searching for these rulings. I also invite you to join with us.

**From the books of Islamic jurisprudence. Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam. The purpose of fasting is to learn self-restraint and to purify the soul and train it in good deeds. The fasting person must be on guard against any act that may cause him to lose the benefits of his fast Fasting is not just refraining from eating and drinking but it is also refraining from everything else that Allah SWT has forbidden.

The reality of fasting is a secret between an individual Muslim and his/her creator and no one can know who is really fasting except Allah SWT.

Most importantly fasting is an important act of worship the fasting person abstains from food, drink water and sexual/intercourse for the sake of Allah SWT or to please Allah SWT (in obedience to the command of Allah SWT).

This is the reality of fasting. The Prophet Muhammad :saw2: is reported to have said: “**The fast is a shield. If one is fasting he should not use foul language, raise his voice or behave foolishly. If someone reviles him or fight with him he should say, ‘I am fasting’ twice”. **(Reported by Imam Al Bukhari).

Very Very Nice thread

Re: A Brief Summary of the Rules of Fasting

I have a question. If I intentionally miss a namaz during fast, is it broken or is it only not accepted?

Re: A Brief Summary of the Rules of Fasting

Peace TLK,

It is not accepted.
**Book ‘Good Manners and Form (Al-Adab)’ of Sahih Bukhari Hadith No. 83
**
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said :saw2:, “Whoever does not give up false statements (i.e. telling lies), and evil deeds, and speaking bad words to others, Allah is not in need of his (fasting) leaving his food and drink.”

Re: A Brief Summary of the Rules of Fasting

So if its not accepted and towards the end of the day, that guy broke his fast (knowing that his fact is not even a fast), then will he do qaza or kaffara ?

Re: A Brief Summary of the Rules of Fasting

^
Zahir hy Kaffara hi ada kary ga.

Re: A Brief Summary of the Rules of Fasting

and what if he does not break his fast .. but later in his age realizes that he made a mistake. Then will it be qaza or kaffara

Re: A Brief Summary of the Rules of Fasting

^
again the same 'Kuffarah'.

Re: A Brief Summary of the Rules of Fasting

But that only says, telling lies and evil deeds and speaking bad words…does not praying fall under evil deeds?

and if a person fasts but doesn’t pray…his fast doesn’t count and isn’t accepted? because I know so many people who will fast but not pray…

Over the years I’ve heard many things that either invalidate the fast or are discouraged…I’d lke to get some clarification if possible!

-getting angry will break your fast… wearing contact lenses/putting drops in the eye will break a fast (since its medicine going into the body) and is thus prohibited…as is wearing chapstick…

-for peopel who are diabetic…does checking the blood sugar (which means pricking the finger with a needle to draw blood) break teh fast? since its only a tiny amount of blood?

Re: A Brief Summary of the Rules of Fasting

I think that's not the case. I'd disagree with LK here. Not praying is one thing and "telling lies and evil deeds" is another. Evil deeds may constitute backbiting, sexual contacts or acts, taking bribes etc but lapse in praying doesnt fit in this category. Just my two cents..
