Well catty I don't think just on the basis of person's language skills s/he should be more/less respected. Wow people actually think like this, I wasn't aware of it. Really I am surprised.

If he can't speak English then should stick to Urdu. He already embarrassed the whole nation by losing the game by 195 runs. koi kami reh gaee thi us ki english nai poori kerdi. Besides everyone who was watching him understands Urdu anyways. You think that some goras have time to sit and watch 5 days game between two brown skin nations?

he is the captain of the Pakistani cricket team by the virtue of his leadership skills(okay a bit doubtful) and his batting skills - ab yeh angrezi bolna necessary to nahi hain...
as far as Indian players go - Dravid,Tendulkar,Ganguly,Laxman,Kumble are from Metros and from upper middle class background (and barring Tendulkar are decently educated) so you would see them having decent oral communication skills.
Irem - if speaking english makes them a western wannabe then what should i label you?Ass Kisser? (since you were educated in Western University?)

You are all a bunch of ingrates and idiots to criticise Inzi for his inability with english. You really think he doesn't know his weakness? It'd have been quite easy for him to simply switch to Hindi or Urdu.
Instead of appreciating his courage to try speaking in a language that he is not comfortable with, just out of COURTESY to millions of TV viewers in India and abroad who do not speak Hindu or Urdu, he spoke in English.
None of you ever made fun of a gora for not speaking good (acc to you) english did you? like the folks from Germany, France and even the Scots and the Irish?

Needless to say this thread shows pathetic peice of mind one has. No offence but really; i have seen loads of athlete’s not even understanding english & just bcos they have a ‘gori chumri’ or somewhat close to it, it still sounds “stylish” (in case she is a woman) but poor Inzi. What about his tremendous record? …

its not about them speaking english which is making them western wannabes. its about their attitude that speaking english is the criteria to say who deserves respect and who doesn’t. catty said Shastri looked at Inzi in a weird way after he couldnt speak proper english, thus my comment.

Like many others mentioned, his English shouldn’t matter, but I’m quite upset the way Pakistan lost this test. Had it not rained, they would’ve lost the first one as well.
Inzi didn’t play well either.
I’m very very upset! 
Oh and I think he should speak in Urdu and/or Punjabi and have someone translate it for him. There’s nothing wrong with it.
