90s Eid Days & PTV transmission :) Miss those days..

Do you all remember the 90s era when PTV Eid transmission would be like this..

On Chaand Raat, they would show a funny drama known as “Eid Train” by Moeen akhter. They used to show every year’s chand raat. I loved that drama

Then on eid day, they would show commercials all day long.. They were like..

Lado ke lashklaray.. jag mag kapray saray.. Ladoo Sabun… Ladoo sabun banay walo ke janib se ahle-watan ko eid mubarak.. (Too much emphasis on the word EID MUBARAK).. hehe

Karachi se Kashmir tak… Gaye… Gaye soap banay walo ke janib se ahle-watan ko eid mubarak..

Then followed by a funny poetry show (mazahiya mushaira) and then few eid related dramas which were always like a fight between two families but they get together on eid day..

I miss these days now :frowning:

Re: 90s Eid Days & PTV transmission :) Miss those days..

Re: 90s Eid Days & PTV transmission :) Miss those days..

and still are best.

ROFL! I remember this ad!

Re: 90s Eid Days & PTV transmission :) Miss those days..

Hey, I remember this other ad too that, I think, aired only on Eids.

It was by some cigarette company, probably Marlboro, and it had people dancing and it showed horses dancing and stuff.

I used to love the ad. The video and the music were brilliant, IMHO.

Do you guys remember or know which ad I'm talking about?

..AUR KAAFI ARSAY TAKK LOGE ISSAY "GUY SOUP" PARRH TAY RAHE!!!

THE BEST EID PLAY EVER TO BE TELECAST FROM PTV....HAS BEEN "EID KA JORRA" WITH NEELOFER & SHAKEEL IN LEAD & KHALID NIZAMI & ISHRAT HASHMI AS SUPPORT--DIRECTED BY KUNWAR AFTAB AHMED...WRITTEN BY HASINA MOIN (1969)

SO DO I.......:(

I miss the creative brains of the past, who wrote and directed scripts/plays with the Eid theme in mind. Rathar than transforming every play into a love story..

"Eid train" I can watch over and over again..

Re: 90s Eid Days & PTV transmission :) Miss those days..

i remember those days also.
those ads used to create such eid festivity for some reason.
and don't forget urdu feature film during the day time.
kitnay achay din thai. now we have so many channels and so many dramas but woh baat kiyon nahi??

yup, Eid Train was brilliant... this is back when Moin Akhtar was actually funny... Durdana Butt was also hilarious in it... she's such a sweetheart... Ishrat Hashmi was in it as well... and Ghazala Kaifi was so, so beautiful in it...

definitely the best Eid play I can remember... I think it's on youtube as well. and the whole premise was so simple... yet so funny.

THIS IS A* REPEAT*....BUT I LOVE TO *REPEAT *IT ON THIS THREAD!

Re: 90s Eid Days & PTV transmission :) Miss those days..

Those were the days when competent urdu writers not part-time-writers-cum-profit-seekers used to write dramas. Urdu is a very expressive langage and it was used beautfilly by writers like haseena moin, amjad islam amjad, ashfaq ahmed, bano qudsia and others. But today writers hvae failed to capture the aesthetics of the langugae due to having a very poor command over urdu. I cringe wehn I hear urdu being mixed with english mixed with some xyz language in dramas. either they should make plays in urdu or english but you can't write half the play in english and call it an urdu play.

Re: 90s Eid Days & PTV transmission :) Miss those days..

uncle Arjay, in (Known)Artiste you write Abid Ali, Firdous Jamal, Tahira Naqvi but you missed some senior like Talal Siddiqi.

Sorry my ignorance--but BY GOD---I heard this name from you---for the first ever time in my 44 years of PTV (shauqiya) career! unless his TV name was else?
