i just saw afridi completing his double century in 15th over
oh and then i woke uP ![]()
Yeah i know.. currently we are not playing against australia and this isn't world cup. its far more important to win against india, it would be for any pakistani.
he must perform his VC duties like inzi has than mistakes of afridi, younis and moin would seem so insignificant that we won't even bother commenting on them. ;)
I think Indian team should make one change... Drop Laxman and bring Badani.
Do this by Moving everyone up the batting order one place or asking Kaif/Badani to play at number 3.
I know Laxman is class act but as far as onedayer are concerned He reminds me of Dravid of 3-4 yrs back. He has to improve his game a lot to be a good oneday batsman on subcontianant wicket. If we were playing onedayers outside Subcontinant then I will keep him at No.3. Problem is that He is not able to deliver and they day he bats up to 40-45 overs India will not be able to put anything more than 300. Either way it is a lose lose situation. Where as Badani is agressive. Has played some good knock at middle order and few good one at top of order and He can bowl a bit which will be very handy.
Just my 2 cents
ppl i think that farhat should open with yasir and then taufeeq should come in at 1 down...and also, this would mean leaving out younis khan as wed have umar in place of khan...moreover, i think we need to giv shoaib malik a kick-->that is....get rid of him...and bring in a specialist playah...i mean he cant field, bowl or bat...atleast bring in sum 1 who can do one of those things...preferably rao or saqi shud be brought in!!
and moin...well akmal should replace him...btw remember akmals alredy got a century in ODI's and that shows hes more than half decent with teh bat...and plus hes a better keeper than moin in terms of ability!!

I think we are all being hard on younis khan. He is being misused. The type of player he is, hes suited to 1 down or 2. This guy can keep one end which is a rarity in pakistan line up. He can provide all the stability by doing that,,, keeping one end secure, and you can play all the hitters and the strokeplayers right around him. Mind you,, we havent really seen pakistan 70/7 lately... but its really not abnormal for a paki line up, and u,ll miss him badly when that happens. Dont lose this guy. I reckon inzi and younis are the only two players who i,ve never seen in pressure, and play their natural game no matter what the circumstances. Sending a guy like that at number 5 is just wasting him. Bring him up the order... yoyo could be 5, since inzi also takes a lil time settling down. Given the type of player he is, hes been pretty decent throughout this series. Just like u cant send miandad as an opener and ask him to hit sixes in the first 15 overs, you cant expect younis khan to go around thrashing bowlers in the middle of the innings. Thats the type of player he is,,, use him to the best of his abilities... I reckon hes a gem and is capable of a lot more than what his record shows.

Afridi has to go. We need Imran Farhat back, so that we can have a good opening partership.
If we bowl with discipline...our 5 bowlers are enough to contain the Indians. We saw that happen in the Peshawar match, where Afridi did'nt bowl.

playing afridi will make no sense for sure, but bringing back farhat wouldn't gurantee a gd stand. he's also very impulsive, n loves to drive at that ball outside offstump. but i'm afraid, rite now he's our best option because brining back umar for such crucial game, i'm not sure if he will be able to handle the pressure.
With Irfan firing great guns in the opening overs, wouldn't it make more sense to have a leftie opener?

Younis Khan's job at no 5 should be to finish the match like Yuvraj Singh or Michael 'The Finisher' Bevan. If he can't do that then he's a second rate player just like his "never scored a ODI Century" record suggests. give that job to Yoyo and watch him spank the bowlers to kingdom come.

younis has done pretty well this series, that is given gd support to the other end - be it inzamam, abdur or hameed. there r enough players on our team who can finish the game, but hardly anyone who can stay on the wicket n make sure he doesnt lose his wicket too early n initiate a collapse.
i dont care if he never scores a century in his entire career (thou i sure hope he does), as long he supports the rest of the batters like he's done this series. his performance in this series has been exceptional. i'm not saying we cant find a better middle-order batter, all i'm saying is he's proven that his selection was justified. if he can continue scoring 30-40 runs every game then i'll take him neday. but if he starts failing, then obviously pcb has to look elsewhere.

I don't know if Yasir is capable of scoring that fast. he really got tied down when Kartik came on last game. But Farhat and Nazir can sure hit the ball. Regarding Taufeeq, I agree with you the guy definitely has guts and I admire him for that but he's really not known for verstality and innovation which is a big requirement for ODI openers. So, I'd prefer Nazir or Farhat over Taufeeq.
What you wrote and I highlighted is just excellent strategy and brilliant cricket on part of India. Australia is damn good at that. I've seen Ponting come in a number of times and just attack the bowlers relentlessly regardless of how cheaply Gilly or Hayden were dismissed.
Pak batsmen's strategy might have worked in the Miandad era but times have changed. And we need the kind of starts that Sohail and Anwar used to give us routinely.

there is nothing wrong with the strategy, even after going slow in the start n most of the innings we were able to pile up a score of almost 300. keeping wickets in the start should alwayz be the goal. we have enough hitters to even score 100 runs in last 10 overs or 50-60 in last 5. i'd rather prefer 50/0 in 15 overs rather then 90/3.
i think yaseer is in big trouble......the guy does not play that well on the On side....anyone remember seeing him hitting boundaries on Onside? just curious....if that is the case, he will be faded very soon.......just like bevan who was such a great talent but once every one realize that he can not play short pitch ball that good, he never played for australia in test matches again..........i saw the fourth match live and yaseer was in serious trouble against all the balls that pitched on the leg stump..that is why he got frustated and finally lost his temper and lost his wicket.....it will be really interesting to see how he tackles this problem in comin one day match....if he again fails due to the same problem, he is in trouble.....;
When he made the 98... the smart graphics used by the television folks, showed him hitting runs all over the ground. So, I wouldn't rush to judgements based on just one failed innings.
hmmm....it is not about one or two matches...he did not fail in lahore match either.....i am talking about a serious technical fault in his batting technique.....but i am not sure if he has one.....
I know its way off topic but did anyone see Inzi saying ‘shut up’ to the journalist in the press conference? ![]()
salaam to all
i cant blieve pak lost 4th ODI
but i still want to keep affers in the side
after all he may click
ok so he isnt a reliable batsmen but when he does click........he has the FASTEST century in the world
he can do anything
he isnt the problem the extras are
when i looked at the scorecard i saw shoaib give away 14 wides
ridiculous!
