Well Nehra isn't really an established bowler yet though he did ok this series. Still his replacement Pathan has done equally well. Agarkar and Harbajhan are no big threats to us, India's main miss is Kumble IMO.

So apart from Kumble I don't think the missing players are a big factor really.
I partially agree with u.

I dont think Indian team misses Agarkar/Nehra that much. Irfan has more than made up for Nehra's absence and Zaheer/Balaji are also doing OK. If anything, it may be Pakistan which is missing Agarkar more than the Indians :)
However, India would certainly have done better with Kumble and Harbhajan. I am not a great fan of Kumble but his experience would have come in handy....As for Harbhajan , I think his presence would have further strengthened not just the spin department but would have also given depth to India's batting.

I partially agree with you. The game ofcourse belongs to India.. but I dunno about the trashing part.

Pakistan needs to get rid of afridi and bring their extras under control. No discpline in bowling. They give away extras like there is no tomorrow. Bring in Taufeeq in place of Afridi. That is the only change required.
Ehsan,...Afridi is like a khota sikka, you never know wo kab chal jai, he had played 179 matches and vast experience in hand, he can ball and he is wonderful fielder as well if he saves 15-20 on the ground makes some difference and covers collaps in his batting!
We can change his order tho bring him down at 6-7,

Imran Nazir is not in Squad else he was a good choice,
The person need to be change is Shoib Malik with Taufeeq!

regarding Extras, ... Inzi has to work out with bawlers, and should have a meeting after every over!
just My opinion!

Well i would have to go one steep further and say
"I feel like getting a worn out dirty baata slipper and smashing it all over our bowler faces, one smack for each extra they conceeded"

I mean what is this a joke? they are bloody international players for Gods sake,

Take out afridi and bring in Taufeeq or imran nazir or even imran farjhat,

I also think saqi should be playing.

Even though Afridi has failed to impress after the second ODI, I think its too late to change the team now. Whoever will be brough in, will have so much pressure on him that he will just crush under the pressure. The current team is playing well, and our bowling didn't too badly, our score was not good enough on a flat pitch of Lahore against one of the best batting teams in the world.

I think the key for Pakistan to win the fifth ODI is Youhana. Except for the first game, he has been worse than Afridi in this series so far, and I really hoped him to perform. His counterpart, is probably playing the best cricket of his career, while Youhana probably the worst. Inzamam has scored 2 terrific centuries in 4 games, I wont be surprised if he doesn't do anything big in the next match, but as a captain and player, he has played his heart out. Its the others who have failed. Malik, Afridi are the type of players who have their days off, but everyone expected Youhana to shine against the medicore Indian bowling at home, but sadly that hasn't happened, and except of Inzamam and Yasir, no specialist batsmen has clicked. Youhana and Younis both have failed. When you only have 4 specialist batsmen in the team, its important at least 3 out of the 4 are performing well. Razzaq, Malik, Afridi, Moin are the type of players who can hit the ball out of the ground, but not the type of players who can build an innings, how Youhana and Younis should have done in this series.

Nonetheless, having said all that, there is still one game to go. Although I strongly believe India will win, because the Pakistani team is young, and the pressure will be too much for them. But Inshallah they will pull it off. Also, changing the team would only harm the team rather than help it. Stick with the current team, which has produced results.

cmon PAKITAN plz win it…although i doubt it
:frowning:

:jhanda: cmon inshallah we’ll win…actually i aint sure

but yo the team should be

1)yasir
2)farhat
3)taufeeq
4)yoyo
5)inzi
6)razzaq
7)moin/akmal
8)shoaib akhtar
9)mod sami
10)saqi
11)shabbir

enough bits and pices players!!! go fer the specialists!!! bloodyt hell!
this is pissin me off…i mean afridi is a blind fag–hell jus swing his bat at nething…that innings at pindi was a fluke…pure fluke
shoib malik cant bowl…cant bat and cant catch (remembert sehwags drop at khi in the 1st match—that cost us dear)
atleest afridi can catch!!!
we dont need batting back up cuz alhamdulilah the battings pretty decent and the pithces are flat!!

maybe yunus should play instead of farhat / tafeeq as he has semmed in good form:P
cmon pakistan :jhanda:

I wouldn't argue with that. Yoyo's dismissal today was disgraceful for one of the world's top batsmen. He couldn't cope with Pathan's left arm inswinging deliveries for a complete over. That despite having played alongside the master of such deliveries Wasim Akram for his whole career. Yoyo is class but I would move him down the order in the final.

If I were the Captain, I would drop Shahid and Malik and bring Taufeeq and Danish/Rao in the team.

Malik is just not in the form since NZ tour. Miandad can't see this. Bringing Taufeeq will give us a sensible batsman to strengthen the batting. So instead of a lousy allround who is out of form bring in a specialist bowler.
*I have never liked Shoaib Malik, he is usually expensive, he less then a mediocre batsman, he choked big time in NZ he is playing horrible. Malik 74 against SA last year was just one time deal, it isn’t going to happened again, Player like this are only good @ domestic cricket. I am not saying that Malik should not be in International Cricket, all I am saying that that he must improve his game to be competitive otherwise there are some quality players in domestic cricket can replace him.

All of you Afridi hater & Mohd Hafeez must understand that both Hafeez & Afridi are not genuine opener, they can fill in as opener, sometime they click and sometime they don't. That why we need solid Opener to shape the inning, some one who can play with confident and score 40+

What the hell happened to Moin Khan, this guy played so good in NZ, he struggle as a batsman.*

*Basically we need to remove all the trash and bring some quality players who can play aggressive, won’t choke or crack underdressed.

Why PCB is ignoring Hasan Raza, Mishbah, and Asim Kamal?
These player should deserver a chance to play, I think any of these playes can replace Younis Khan In ODI.

PCB should have tried Asim Kamal instead of Younis Khan, Younis has no fire, he was taking 1 and 2s in 4th ODI, and he needs to play aggressive.

Like someone else said the key to the next match will be Youhanna, he must play aggressive, if I could I would replace Afridi, Shoib malik, Younis Khan but I don’t think it will be good Idea at this time, hope we win 5th ODI*

It will be a classic end to a very closely fought series. Whatever the result of the series one thing is for sure, both these teams are very evenly matched. I dont think even after the result on wednesday you can say decisively that one team is better than the other.
come on ehsan.....indian batting is far far ahead of pakistan...there is no comparison betweeb the both teams for that matter...what i am trying to say that india has at least 6 players who can single handedly win a match for their team. Sachin, sehwag, laxman, ganguly, dravid and yourag singh all are capable of taking a match away from the opponents even though rest of team may be suffering.True, ganguly and laxman are having problems with the bat right now, but on a given day they can score centuries with no problem. Fourth one day is an excellent example of indian batting strength. How many times would you see a team playing underlights with 90/4 and still be able to chase 300 runs with 6 overs to spare.

Whereas pakisatn has only 2 players, inzi and yoyo with that sort of reputation. yaseer is improving but he is still not there. rest of them are very ordinary players with limited capabilities..imran farhat, younis khan, razaq all are good but like i said with limited capabilities.

Several have written about India not having Nehra, Harbajan, Kumble and Agarkar. Of the lot except Kumble and to a small extent, and that would be a gamble, perhaps Harbajan can add value. I think Pathan is actually doing better than Nehra (except for Nehra's two innings) and Agarkar is a bigger gamble. Kumble, whether among wickets or not will hold a side down. So apart from Kumble I wouldn't make any other major change.

Apart from the obvious factors, Indian team has to be alert and passionate about fielding. It may be true our bowling is not the greatest but a great fielding performance stopping shots can frustrate opposite batsmen into desperation.

I missed seeing Pakistan batting today. How was Indian fielding today?

Well the proof of the pudding is in the eating and at the end of the 4 ODI's the result is 2/2. On paper yes Indian batting team is much superior and individually the batting line in awesome but if they went today from 90/4 to win the match look at the first ODI in karachi and see what the Pakistani batting line up did once they were also 4 or 5 wickets down.

The norm is that Indian batting is better and our bowling is better. When I say that regardless of the result on wednesday both teams are equal I am also cancelling our stronger bowling line up. The teams are evenly matched is the state of the two teams overall, not just one department.

I think it is obvious that despite playing 3 specialist bowlers, we're still short one quality wicket-taker. So, I would bring in Saqi or Rao Iftikhar for Afridi. And I would promote Moin Khan or Shoaib Malik to open the inning. Malik's done it before and I don't see why he can't do it again.

I don't think Taufeeq will be that useful against India mainly because we need to rattle them in the first 15 overs like they did us today and in the first match. If I was going to replace Affers with a batsman it would be Imran Nazir 'cause he's capable of matching Shewag shot for shot where Taufeeq is a proper batsman and is less likely to scare the Indian bowlers out of their wits.

Also, whether this is good for the boy's confidence or not, I would tell Shabbu that his career will be sealed if he can't control his extras. Inzi nearly pulled his hair out today and Miandad must have been fuming in the dressing room with Shabbir's antics. There is no use bowling absolute pearlers when you give away 10 runs an over. It might be okay in test cricket but in ODIs runrate is the key and you just can't be as generous as Shabbir has been.

it was amazing and indians showed great passion in the field. ganguly set a good field placing for every bowler and each bolwer bowled to a set plan, and in respond indian fielders threw themselves to every possible chance...kaif as usual took a stunning catch to get rid of dangerman razzaq.....

quite true. they definitely have Yasir Hameed worked out. it was ridiculous to see him not being able to work the ball through the midwicket area when the ball was on leg stump. I'm talking of Karthik's bowling here.

If pakistan wants to win the 5th ODI, it must provide Yasir Hameed with proper partner. Somebody who is as good as him and as patient with the bat, knows what to hit and what not to hit. Afridi is not going to do it for pakistan. Whats up with youhana??? I want to see partnership between Youhana and Inzi of 100+ runs.

pakistani bowlers need to watch for the extras, fielding needs to be so tight in attack position. again watch for the extras!!!!!!!!

That's good to know that Indians are taking fielding seriously. Cricket is not merely ball versus bat.

On this board, many of us always rated shabbir a wonderful bowler but to me he was always an average bowler. His only quality was to keep a good line and length and slowdown the run rate but in this particular series he has failed to do so. Top of that, he has emerged with another serious problem, NO BALLS. He bowled at least one no ball in every over so far and it is NOT GOOD. In Peshawar he bowled well but come on.... give me a break…12 No balls and wide balls in one over...is it some sort of joke..... Today he was again helpless and miserable soul. I was feeling sorry for him . he had no control over his run up and he was so confused.....once he came and bowled so close from the wickets that he ended up shattering them.....

Shabbir's problem is that he tries to ball too fast most of the times and in the mean process he oversteps. He does not realize that he is a very average bowler and he cannot generate a lot of pace. His role should be to keep a good line and length and use his height and high arm action to generate the extra bounce, only if wicket is helping him.

But apart from his overstepping problems, he is a very average bowler. He can not be a front line bowler no matter what. He should only be given chances if he can resolve his no ball problems but paki board should not consider him a potential fast bowler in coming future. HE IS NOTHING BUT A PART TIME SOLUTION TO A BIGGER PROBLEM UNTIL WE FIND A GENUINE FAST WICKET TAKER WHO CAN SHARE SHOAIB'S RESPONSIBILTIES. I haave never seen rio afthikar but that guy has taken almost 250 first class wickets.... dont you guys think that he deserve a chance.....Well guess what inzi has pointed out for new bowling option in his latest post-match press conference.....some hint for sabbirrr ?

The sort of problems Shabbir displays makes me wonder how the hell did he managed to make it to the national team of Pakistan without anyone doing a solid chitrol early in his career to make him learn the basics of fast bowling. Its ok in galli mohallay ki cricket for the bowler to kick the stumps, rub the umpire and bowling no ball after no ball and wide ball after wide ball after wide ball ... but on the national level, I have never seen a bowler who is so uncoached and raw to shatter bowling-end stumps while delivering a ball. It seems as if we get too impressed on "raw talent" that we forget to groom them properly to polish them for the national team. The bowlers should learn these basics while playing club cricket and first class cricket.... not when they are playing for the national team in one of the most important series.
