Lets dedicate this thread to all the things that went wrong, with Pakistan…during those long 58 years.
Misjudging our allies and our foes, weak foreign policy making, failure to get rid of feudalism after almost 6 decades, etc. etc.
In political science classes, they refer to Pakistan as a failed democratic state. A number of western writers have predicted that there wont be any pakistan in the coming decade. Yes, these people are our very “allies”.
Lately i was talking to this one female guppy in digi, on our foreign policy…and the justification she gave to ally with the West was, “…we’d be screwed either way, its just a matter of buying time.” Is that our reality?
One of the first steps in problem solving is identifying what the problem is, what is the root cause? Let us dedicate this thread to finding the root cause of all our problems.
when pakistan was born....it was during ramadan...its a blessing from allah....some even say ..when pakistan was created even the angels in the higher heavens celebratd...it will surely serve its purpose one day...on coruption part..... take any country ..from anywhere around the world (except saudia arabia) ull find major corruption in political system....dirty politics in every country, dirty politicans trying to ripp off their own country so they can send their kids to high level private schools and save money for next 7 generations! all i know is that one day ..we will rise and shine :)

everything starts from your own house. make sure you clean your house, do your part, forget about others. qatra qatra deriya banta hai. be that 1 drop and i'm sure others will follow. if you can't do your part then def you have no right to point fingers at others. if country is corrupt then its not only bcos of the corrupt politicians, the whole country is corrupt, from a common person to a landlord to a politician. stop making excuses and start correcting your own mistakes.
does fixing your own house first entail having a pessimistic attitude and whining about what's going wrong? Admitting there is a problem is one thing. Whining about it is another.

Its high time we start accepting the harsh realities. Its not called whining, its called 'accepting the truth'.
Its a fact that we are a laughing stock, hell...an American President, would'nt want to stay in Pakistan for more than 3 hours, despite Pakistan being his ally, and on top of that, would not want to shake hands with the Pakistani Leader on camera.
Maybe Pakistan has been 58 years of shame and disgrace, but clearly it has created an enviornment where Pakistanis have learned how to adapt and succeed, if not in their own country, then in someone elses. Pakistan is not the only one which has done that, there are numerous other countries which have done the same. Then again, there are a whole lot of them which haven't.
lets talk about Muslims in general. name a few more important countries in the Muslim world. your beloved east pakistanis are still figuring out how to make missiles from rice shoots. the greatest technological innovation the arabs have made over the past 200 years is putting robots on camels. that is what they will remain for the next 200 years too. if you feel ashamed of Pakistan, you feel ashamed of one of the few important countries in the Muslim world, that have any degree of influence in the way the world operates. your perpetually cowering in fear saudis, and your dear departed talebanies, the kind of people you want us to become, are much, much, much, worth being ashamed of.
You must be joking? Saudi Arabia’s apolitical system is one of the most corrupt. All the rich Shiekhs go to enjoy their weekends in Bahrain while the poors don’t even have enough to eat. Despite the common belief, there is plenty of crime in Saudi Arabia. Ask those who have lived there.
Apart from the money required to run their oil company, the oil earned money becomes the personal property of the Royal family and not a part of the national exchequer. Considering the fact that they produce close to 11 million barrels of oil per day and assuming an efficiency of 60% and the price of oil of US$ 45/barrel, they make at least US$ 300 million per day. Now go and visit their major cities and see their infrastructure development. Where is all the money going? During the Gulf war, their budget was in deficit.
^ Yeah i was gonna say something about that too. Furqi yaar the fact that theres a monarchy and no democratically elected leaders in saudi arabia, alone tells of the corruption in the state so loved by muslims around the world. Do some research on why its called SAUDI arabia and not just arabia. Find out exactly who the hell these saudi's are (theyre not even originally from arabia) and how they took over control of the whole place.
The problem is cultural. Loyalty to the family supercedes loyalty to the state, which means that right from the very beginning corruption began setting in. At all levels, people took what belonged to the state in order to provide more for their families, and justified it as the perks of power, be it democratic power or autocratic power.
Before all start mentioning and co miserating about what went wrong lets make what went wrong and suggestions to make it right.Other wise its a crap thread for whingers.
Right shall i start with one ? alot of good educated people leaving Pakistan and giving up hope. I will start by educating myself and moving back to help in anyway i can.
