^Waqar Younis was a great bowler,one of the best ever to play cricket.Not everybody is naturally gifted with everything as a bowler like waqar was.when he sees sami he probably thinks he can never be good enough no matter what i tell him.that was his attitude towards sami when i heard him commentating on him once.Thats why i think its not always a good idea to pick coaches based solely on their performances as cricket players.I think what imran khan said was right sami probably needs somebody like aaqib jawed to better guide him.

Honestly when I wokeup and saw score 64/4 I was expecting something like 110-130 all out before 40 overs, but 200+ was a good recovery and Hameed should get credit for that :k: He held up one end while the other was facing exit-door.

The (empty) think tank should have put Samiullah in place of Rao and left Gul in the team… but no, we don’t want to ‘experiment’ with new talent, we’d rather kill ourselves with old ‘talent’.

The result was expected, but scores from Hafeez and Malik are rather disappointing, I was expecting them to hold on for 30+ each.

The natural outcome from this match and the last 2 if selection is on merit should be

A. Rehman
Gul
Shahid Nazir

But if it is on the other version of merit where m
m = my
e = expected
r = risk free
i = inept
t = team selection

then it will be Sami, Rao, Malik, etc. etc.

Afridi is in neither as he is an anomaly…an aberration.. will he click or not…

^i think imran farhat should be dropped for yasir hameed for sure.guy is trying to be gilchrist or jaysuriya everytime he goes out there to bat.Yasir hameed is more level headed and has a good record in one day cricket.Afridi's problem is that if you don't give him vip treatment everytime he is in the team he gets pissed off.its one thing being out of form but if the guy is showing lack of commitment than you can't risk playing him for too long.

Sami has bowled alongside Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib... coached by Waqar, helped by Imran Khan... what else would one need to improve? Grab his hand, run with him, control his head, legs, body movement and then throw the ball for him? I mean come'on, what else do you need? I guess a lightening from sky might work for him :D

The same could be said about 'phus phus' Afridi, a guy who made his international debut a decade ago, has played alongside Inzi and Yousuf and been coached by Miandad and Woolmer. Despite showing some consistency, maturity and discipline in 2004-5 he 's back to his same old reckless self since the early part of 2006. I guess some guys just don't want to/can't improve.

I am no fan of Afridi, so if you classify him in same category I wouldn't have problem :) ... however, the difference is that Afridi performed for much longer duration than Sami can ever imagine.
