ISLAMABAD: The government gave approval in principal on Wednesday for Emaar Properties of United Arab Emirates to go ahead with a $43 billion project to build a model city near Karachi. Emaar, which will have 85 percent equity in the project, will develop two islands, Bundal and Buddo, near Karachi into a city with state-of-the-art facilities, Ashfaque Hasan Khan, an advisor to the prime minister, told reporters. “It will be just like another Dubai,” Khan said. “It will consist of everything. Residential buildings, theme parks, offices, just about everything.” “We want to build it because it will create new jobs, bring in investment, create new housing and a new city,” he added. Port Qasim Authority will hold 15 percent in the form of land, Khan said after a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee. The project is expected to take about 13 years. Khan said approval in principal for the project had been given after all formalities were completed.
so we can’t fix Karachi, why don’t we make a badmashi adda like the islands off dubai and have goras making vacation there…
is the only objective jobs,…
or is it jobs but conservation of morality as well…
and btw wasn’t gawadar supposed to be the greatest things since ICE tea?
and now since it is such a mess as far as planning and govt. ghuplay baazi so now another one of PM’s dubai friends get a slice of the ever so lucrative PAki investment pie…
^i agree with you. as our family has a good amount of shares in emaar we get to be invited to the agm's so i already knew about this new "development" in pakistan
Islamabad, Sep 14 (IANS) The Gawadar port in Balochistan province would be made operational by Dec 30 with most of the work on the first phase of the deep sea port completed, the Pakistani senate was told.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Kamil Ali Agha told the house during question hour on Wednesday that 90 percent work on the first phase was complete, reported Online news agency.
Ghulam Sarwar Khan, the minister for labour, manpower and overseas Pakistanis, said the government was making all-out efforts to reduce unemployment, adding that 3.23 million people were unemployed in the country.
State Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Raza Hayat Haraj said the government had drawn up a programme to impart training and skills to two million people and small loans would be given to graduate and postgraduate youths. He said that Pakistani manpower was being sent to South Korea, Libya and other foreign countries.
Why do people have to complain about everything? I admit, there's no need to wet your pants over a project in its very preliminary stages but to bash it with little to no information is even more ridiculous.
^^ Maybe because besides some money they are going to pay for jobs needed to make the city(low wages too most likely), almost all the profits will go in Arab pockets
