So, why are there so many 40 yr olds who are single out there?
Were they just not good enough to get married all these years?
The equivalent of a 35 yr old unmarried woman, if you will?

Because their mommies asked them to wait to marry until all their 15 younger sisters are married off. Until then, they are to accumulate credit points for servitude and slavery. :)
Trust me, I know quite a few cases.

i know a few guys that are foreveralone because their mom's basically treat them as their husbands. They don't get the attention from their spouses so they make it impossible for the guy to find a girl to marry...really makes me sad.

well i guess. there was this poor 40 yr old guy who worked for my dad. he was a simpleton, and my dad tried so hard to help him find a wife - he finally had to go back to Pakistan and found someone.
His mom made him work his butt off in America, send all his money home while he lived like a pauper, and then he had to get all his sisters married off before he could be married.
I never understood that policy.

They were busy with their career so that they could find a trophy wife , if they achieved their goals they can find one.

I know some that were busy in their career and wanted to establish first and enjoy their life as well before getting married.

I know two who were caught in what they felt were other responsibilities paying off loans, putting siblings through uni getting sisters married, parents health issues etc and then getting into the challenge that they had their parents living with them and women did not want that lifestyle.
a few others seem to be very picky, and have wound up in a situation just like older girls, older they get the options get decreased but their expectations dont etc etc

yeah, i know a few men who were left with finacning their siblings education and marriages... and never got married. One such man was my dad's friend and he died recently.... so sad.
Do these mens parents not think? A man IMO really needs marriage in his twenties and thirties. By the time he hits forty he has already became used to bachelor life and is physical needs begin to diminish.
if it is due to responsibilities then the guy can still find somebody. However I am very concerned about those men that choose not get married and a I know of several acquaints instant acquaintances. I think perhaps they dont have need to get married.

I see that alot. Girls have problems in finding good proposals these days and therefore parents let their sons wait until the daughters get married. This leads to chain effect.
Some guys want to focus on their career before they can get married. Some want to study further. Others are too picky that they don't find a 'suitable' girl.
I believe guys remaining unmarried till 40 is their and their parents will. Girls remaining unmarried till older age is something which is not in our hands. Many girls are not being picky and choosy but because we are facing rejections from losers :p

One of my family friends got married recently around 40ish, his wife was in her mid 30s. I think they were just both picky and ended up having to 'settle' in order to get married at all.
They still had a big fat expensive wedding though :/

The parents who expect these men to finance their siblings wedding should take a reality check.... why don't the siblings get a job and finance their own weddings and as for education shouldn't the parents pay for that...

Things are different in desi culture. It is not as black and white as you think. Desi kids have stronger bonds with their parents and siblings and feel and obligation to do all this.
