3rd Test - Thu 24 - Mon 28: March 05 Pakistan Vs India

Re: 3rd Test - Thu 24 - Mon 28: March 05 Pakistan Vs India

Question: do Indian players make more money if they win the series 2-0 instead of 1-0?

Re: 3rd Test - Thu 24 - Mon 28: March 05 Pakistan Vs India

When MY Team is playing a game, I want my team to win.

If they lose, I would not hate them but would hate the way they would’ve played or the mistakes they would’ve made.

I will still love them and still back them up. I am no dis-loyal person :hoonh:

Re: 3rd Test - Thu 24 - Mon 28: March 05 Pakistan Vs India

btw, I was wondering whatever happened to Gen. Tauqir Zia's son ? I forget his name.

He was being touted as a good fast bowling prospect at one time.

Re: 3rd Test - Thu 24 - Mon 28: March 05 Pakistan Vs India

I think tauqir Zia's Ganja son has suspect action and he is too wayward. There are lots of better bowlers than him like Shahid Nazir,Najaf Shah, yasir Ali, Abdur Rauf, Irshad etc

Re: 3rd Test - Thu 24 - Mon 28: March 05 Pakistan Vs India

yeah what happened to shahid nazir?

Re: 3rd Test - Thu 24 - Mon 28: March 05 Pakistan Vs India

that made my day :rotfl: I dont have to say anything else

Re: 3rd Test - Thu 24 - Mon 28: March 05 Pakistan Vs India

he is in the A team

Inzamam and Ganguly - two captains under pressure

After the Calcutta test, the captains of India and Pakistan continue to remain under tremendous pressure.

Ganguly has not made enough runs in the recent past. Yes, he has got a few middle level scores and missed out on centuries twice against Bangladesh, but he needs to be more consistent to hold his own against the likes of Yuvraj and Kaif who’re queueing up. He talks to Cricinfo about his batting and captaining India

Inzamam has not been short of runs and has looked extremely comfortable at the crease. The problem for him is that once he is out, the rest of the batting seems to become too vulnerable. Osman Samiuddin summarises** Inzi’s contribution to Pakistani cricket** as the skipper plays his hundredth test.

Re: 3rd Test - Thu 24 - Mon 28: March 05 Pakistan Vs India

**India v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Bangalore

Nightmare venue for Indian batsmen**
Cricinfo

Pakistan may be 1-0 down in the series with only one match to go, but if the recent record at Bangalore, the venue of the last Test, is anything to go by, then Bob Woolmer and Inzamam-ul-Haq need not feel too despondent. Of the last eight Tests at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, seven have produced a decisive result. (The only one which didn't was England's Test here in 2001-02, when rain played spoilsport and allowed only 225.1 overs in the match.) India have been at the wrong end of the last three decisive Tests at this venue, losing twice to Australia and once to South Africa. Pakistan, on the other hand, have never lost a Test here: they drew the matches in 1979-80 and 1983-84, and clinched a famous victory in 1986-87, when India fell short by just 16 runs in a thrilling run-chase. (Click here for all the Tests played at Bangalore.)

As in Kolkata, it's almost certain that the captain winning the toss will bat – that's what has happened in 14 of the 15 Tests. The only instance when a captain chose to field at Bangalore was in the first Test here, in 1974-75, – perhaps mindful of facing Andy Roberts and Vanburn Holder first up, MAK Pataudi asked West Indies to bat first. It didn't help the Indian cause much – they went on to lose by 267 runs.

In the last seven Tests here, teams have batted fairly well in the first and fourth innings, averaging 37.1 per wicket in the first and 41.8 in the fourth. However, the number drops to 30.4 in second innings, and just 23 in the third. The fourth-innings stats have been propped up by two comfortable run-chases – India made 151 for 2 against New Zealand in 1995-96, while Australia achieved a similarly easy eight-wicket win in 1997-98 when chasing 194.

Contrary to common perception, fast bowlers have done better than spinners at this venue – since 1993-94 (in the last seven matches), pace bowlers have taken 80 wickets at 26.96, while the spinners have taken more wickets, 93, but they have come at 34.48 apiece. The Indian spinners are marginally better, averaging 32.65. However, the spinners usually come into their own in the latter stages of a Test – they average 39.59 in the first two innings, and 26.69 in the last two.

The two favourite sons of Bangalore have hugely contrasting stats at their home ground – while Anil Kumble has enjoyed bowling at the Chinnaswamy, Rahul Dravid has had a wretched time with the bat. Kumble has taken 34 wickets at 24.50 in six matches, but Dravid's stats look rather miserable - 127 runs in seven innings at less than 20. Almost half those runs came in his previous outing, when he scored 60 against Australia.

In fact, if the numbers are any indication, the onus of getting the runs for India will rest entirely on Sachin Tendulkar. Sourav Ganguly, and VVS Laxman, both of whom are trying to break out of a lean patch, have an absolutely dismal record here: Ganguly has only managed 97 runs at 13.85 while Laxman's figures are equally poor – 67 runs at 13.40. So the combined stats for Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman here read – 291 runs in 19 innings at 15.31. Tendulkar, on the other hand, has flourished, averaging 62.71, with one century and two 90s in five Tests.

yasir hameed and arshad khan r likely replacements for 3rd test, indicate latest reports. btw yasir arafat is doing very well with the ball back home and on the 'a' tour, i hope he is given a chance for the caribbean tour.

Re: 3rd Test - Thu 24 - Mon 28: March 05 Pakistan Vs India

I really hope Pakistan bats first if somehow Inzi wins the toss. Arshad Khan and Yasir are good replacements. I will be glad to see those two out but I cant understand what Butt has not done to be sidelined after just one test failure.

Re: 3rd Test - Thu 24 - Mon 28: March 05 Pakistan Vs India

If we drop Khalil...that means Razzaq will open the bowling for us? thats is not gonna happen...There is no point of playing Razzaq and Afridi in a test match...and since Afridi is in better form with the bat we shud play him and replace Razzaq with Rana.

Re: 3rd Test - Thu 24 - Mon 28: March 05 Pakistan Vs India

^ :hehe: what are the chances they’ll drop Razzaq for Rana? I don’t think thats gonna happen. If they really like to bring Rana, they’ll drop Khalil.

Re: 3rd Test - Thu 24 - Mon 28: March 05 Pakistan Vs India

bhai kuch bhi karlo, hona wohi hai jo sub ko pata hai. May be in next year 2006 series we will be able to defeat India at home. So far only infamous Pakistan team's unpredictable bounce back can win us a game. Otherwise with weakest bowling, poor batting and worst fielding we can't see any Chamatkaar to happen.

Re: 3rd Test - Thu 24 - Mon 28: March 05 Pakistan Vs India

Taufiq and Khalil should make room for Arshad and Rana. Have Razzaq and Afridi open for some fireworks. They both are good players of fast bowling. If we want to win and get 20 wickets in the process, we need 3 pacers (Sami, Rana and Razzaq) along with three spinners (Arshad, Danesh and Afridi). Lets face it any other combination is not going to cut it (we have seen it in the first two tests). If our top 7 (Afridi, Razzaq, Younis, Youhana, Inzi, Asim and Kamran can't score, then having another batsman at the expense of a bowler is not going to help either. Once again I may be a dreamer but my side for this test is:

Razzaq
Afridi
Younis
Inzi
Yoyo
Asim
Kamran
Sami
Rana
Arshad
Kaneria

Re: 3rd Test - Thu 24 - Mon 28: March 05 Pakistan Vs India

Haas i agree to your team to some extent, i am not really a big fan of Afridi and razzaq as TEST players but we don't have much choice here and we can take a risk this time and open maybe with Afridi and Hameed and Rana can replae Razzaq.

We need specialist bowlers to make early breakthroughs. Razzaq might have taken 6 wickets in last TEST but he took them very late in the inning and din't strike when we needed him the most.

Re: 3rd Test - Thu 24 - Mon 28: March 05 Pakistan Vs India

LoL.... just wait a while guys. 2 more hours to go.

I think they should play Yasir and afridi as well
