Law 13 (The follow-on)

1. Lead on first innings
(a) In a two innings match of 5 days or more, the side which bats first and leads by at least 200 runs shall have the option of requiring the other side to follow their innings.(b) The same option shall be available in two innings matches of shorter duration with the minimum required leads as follows:
(i) 150 runs in a match of 3 or 4 days;
(ii) 100 runs in a 2-day match;
(iii) 75 runs in a 1-day match.

2. Notification
A captain shall notify the opposing captain and the umpires of his intention to take up this option. Law 10.1(e) (Insufficient time to complete rolling) shall apply.

3. First day’s play lost
If no play takes place on the first day of a match of more than one day’s duration, 1 above shall apply in accordance with the number of days remaining from the actual start of the match. The day on which play first commences shall count as a whole day for this purpose, irrespective of the time at which play starts.
Play will have taken place as soon as, after the call of Play, the first over has started. See Law 22.2 (Start of an over).

Re: 3rd Test: India v Pakistan at Bangalore - Dec 08

Good game by Misbah and Akmal so far.. 58 runs is easily attainable.

Re: 3rd Test: India v Pakistan at Bangalore - Dec 08

Shukria! DaPakiguy! I always wondered about this.

Re: 3rd Test: India v Pakistan at Bangalore - Dec 08

** India 626
Pakistan 369/5 (117.0 ov)
** Pakistan trail by 257 runs with 5 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

**Stumps - Day 3

**so with only 58 needs to avoid follow on and 5 wkts in hand, pak can go for some quick runs tomorrow and try to knock off as many as possible in as little time as possible and then declare. and then hope for india to bat aggressively and score quick runs to get a lead of around 320-330 and declare. leaving with pak to score the needed runs to win n level the series. however it depends when will india declare. every1 felt that they were a tad bit late in declaring in the 2nd test and should have had declared the previous day after getting past 300 runs lead. this time again situation is very similar, however this being the decider of the series, don't know whether india will be brave enough to risk the series for the sake of pakistan to level the series.

Re: 3rd Test: India v Pakistan at Bangalore - Dec 08

:bravo: kamran n misbah again in action…

:alas: series gone :frowning:

Re: 3rd Test: India v Pakistan at Bangalore - Dec 08

Misbah is the most valueable player. I just cant imagine he has been dropped off the squad once and never ever tested again.
PCB :nook:

Re: 3rd Test: India v Pakistan at Bangalore - Dec 08

when i woke up this morning i was hoping for atleast 400+ runs and not more then 3 or 4 wickets down if that, but well still pakistan did well so i have no complains but pakistan have still lost the series as it seems to heading towards a similar draw as the second test and still pakistan will end up loosing the series.

Re: 3rd Test: India v Pakistan at Bangalore - Dec 08

Re: 3rd Test: India v Pakistan at Bangalore - Dec 08

India are on the verge of breaking the record for most extras conceded in a single test innings. Their extra’s tally (70) is just one short of the world record, currently held by West Indies who conceded 71 extras against Pakistan in Georgetown, Guyana](http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63481.html) in 1988.
