yes, precisely. and this is way more worrying to me. I'll be posting more on this soon.
we play far too much one day matches, We need test cricket practise, Even our crowd favours one days and the team probably too. Our batsmen with the exception of a few just slip into the one day mode and get out cheaply
Our openers are good but they refuse to get up when they are down. And thats what happened with Taufeeq in this series. He was short on confidence and it was obviuos from second match onwards. He missed a very innocuous ball from Pathan just a while ago which didnt have any extravagant movement and was coming at 79 mph. But being this unsure he just missed it completely while on a better day when he is flowing in confident he would have played it with utmost comfort,
No need for a slaughter but we need to reexamine our commitment and the way we approach the match. I am at a loss to understand how you can lose by an innings come back strongly and then lose again. Shows lack of discpline.
We need better openers.

I think it's a knee jerk reaction. The openers have had a bad series but Farhat was good enough to score a match-winning century in the last match. He's young and he needs to learn some discipline. Taufeeq is getting out because he is leaning over too much to play to the legside. If he can't fix that then he'll be replaced - which would be a shame as he is one of our gutsiest players.
As for committment and discipline I'll wait for a seperate thread to address it as I have my views on that.
if you ask me where you guys went wrong - i would say there was never team effort - when you guys won you never analyzed that why you were winning and all the brainstorming occurs when the team loses...if you look over the last six months or so...it was never a team performance which gave you wins...it was some extraordinary session which turned into your favor..as a result of which there was complacency that the team is fine..
DD, only way forward for us is to make wholesale changes in the management. the rebuilding BS doesn't cut it any more. How long have we been rebuilding for? the last 6 years? when are we going to have a team that can actually compete?
even now, there is only 2 days left. the Aussies would surely have batted their way to a draw here but then again their openers have a sense of responsibility. they know they're playing for their country and not for the entertainment of their muhallah wallas.

I agree. Someone needs to regroup these guys, give them some lessons on fielding and teamwork. They should send out the scouts for better batsmen...and we need consistency. We have such an unpredictable side you can NEVER know what will happen.
Xtreme, yup..we shouldn't jump the gun and cut them up over this. If we're at our worst right now the only way is up.
One thing i have noticed and would ike to point out. Even yesterday Laxman and Dravaid were edging deliveries to slips but they bounced short on each occassions. And same thing kept happenning, Akbar inducd Yuvraj for edges and Sami induced Dravid but ball never carried. Why did inzimam not called the slips a bit further. He should have realized it earlier that balls are keeping low and Rahul and Laxman are edging short of slips. That for me is laid back captaincy but oh well, we have discussed that he still has a lot to learn to be more commanding in the field.
either javed is a pathetic coach who couldnt teach nothing to the guys or our stupid players don't learn anything from him.. they hear from one ear and throw it out from another...
looking at the first one day international.. can u guys believe its the same team..
look @ indian team, if tendulker doesnt perform, they have players like dravid, shewag, lexaman, ganguly and many more... and they have been very consistent... if sami perform in first inning he wont perform in the second one.. they hameed scores a century in first game, he wont do that in next game... players often have bad times but not in every other game..
i saw that in our bowlers.. in the start they try to ball soo well with good line and length but as soon as they are hit for 4, they lose all their energy.. why cant u be consistent... why cant javaid teach them disipline..
i think we should change the coach before next tournment.... bring some foreign coach.. hire translators, may be they can do bettter...
I know that we did have this foriegn coach before i forgot his name but he was the guy who doesnt even have any test record...
or may be ask imran khan to leave the politics and serve the team or ask waseem to work on our bowling...kuch karo laikin do somehting witht he team
if you cant beat india how do u expect to beat Australia even england south africa...
because of this new team, our record against india is gettin worst and worst...
If we're at our worst right now the only way is up.

Very true indeed Somz. This match is a lost cause, but i would like our players to show some resistance and not just capitulate in face of defeat. Players are going down inevitably, atleast go down fighting.
lol. DD, you're the only person on GS who has the ability to agree with two completely different viewpoints in one and the same post. good job.
Barring multiple miracles from our only two world class batsmen, India looks set to easily win the game and the series. so, well played Indian team. and congrats to the fans.

excellent points, bitter. but I guess the knives only come out when the team loses. not that I haven't done the same thing as well. :)
But really i think we shouldn’t kill them over it but to become a winning team we need to improve ourselves. I hope its a fix claim don’t start surfacing..they piss me off.
Khair, had we not lost we would have thought we were a brilliant bunch and the flaws would have remained masked till some other eqaully embarassing moment. At least we know we are going wrong and can do something about it ( hopefully before the next world cup and Inshallah take badla for our humiliation by the Aussies and Indians )
I think the problem with us is we go overboard when we win and overboard when we lose. Look at the attitude to our fast bowlers...if they do well then they are called superstars, if they have a bad day then they are $hit and need to be booted out of the side. The truth is neither Sami or Shoaib are great bowlers...but neither are they bad.
The top order is relying on youngsters who still have a lot to learn. India are a better side right now but there's not that much in it. We are not that far off so what everybody is throwing tantrums for I have no idea. If there was a 4th test match I wouldn't bet against us winning it. We have plenty talent but it needs to be harnessed and organised better and for me the coaching needs to be more professional.
