Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
^ I really hope Razzaq was injured or something. I am just too pissed with this selection. Hoping against the odds that sami proves me wrong (saying this for the umpteenth time)
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
2.6Mohammad Sami to Strauss, FOUR, dreadful line, Sami drifting down the leg side and Strauss whips him through midwicket for four. Powerfully struck.
Sami at it again......2nd four in the over.
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
Lets see what sami can do in this over after an impressive over by Gul
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
My beef with Sami has always been that it's bad enough he doesn't take wickets, but he never ever creates any pressure on the batsmen either. Even Umar Gul can b invoke some oohs and aaah from the spectators, but Sami has never generated that kidn of pressure that would make batsmen tentative and defensive.
Not only he does not take wickets, he also releases all pressure thus preventing other bowlers from taking wickets too. Man, he's a disaster we have been stuck with.

2.6 Mohammad Sami to Strauss, FOUR, dreadful line, Sami drifting down the leg side and Strauss whips him through midwicket for four. Powerfully struck
2.2 Mohammad Sami to Strauss, FOUR, ouch: outside off stump, too short, and Strauss climbs into it, torpedoing it past point for his first four. Crunching boundary
Sami already on the spot…
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
He likes to give them batting practice.
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
Enland 19-0. Sami going for just 2 runs in his last over ![]()
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
'Bit of a "nothing" over. Not threatening, and played comfortably by both the batsmen.'
Don't need to mention who is being referred to.
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
Oh my God, just got back and was greeted with the site of Sami spraying it around. To top it all off, I hear that Razzaq AND Afridi are dropped. What a shocker. I am too pissed for words. Sami gets a free ride while Razzaq who chips in with bat and ball is dropped. Also, I am a 100% sure Farhat would have played had it not been for that injury.
We are supposed to win this test match and level the series with FOUR bowlers? That too which includes Sami and the 30 year old "never was" Nazir. We needed all the bowling options we could get with our frontline pacers out of the squad.
Rant over, now waiting for the declaration.
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
edge, just short of Younis in the second slip,
Gul bowling really well to Trescothick. He has already dismiised him twice in the series
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
I also this that this is a very unbalanced squad selection. Glad to see Afridi dropped but the missing 5th bowler syndrome will be of crucial significance in this more seaming wicket. I would pick Razzaq over Sami and probably would have risked trying Samiullah over Shahid Nazir, as looking into the future. Although I do feel sorry for Shahiz Nazir that he has been around for 10 years in the international scence but has not featured much in test cricket...but on the other hand that goes to say alot about his potential as well... Invest in the future with Asif & Shoaib coming back inshaallah next test, it would have been nice to try out a new lad.
I guess Inzi's luck with the toss is also horrible. The toss that we should have lost (second test) is the toss we won and lead to hitting our own self destruction button.
Lets hope and pray that this test would be like Sami's debut test where he took 8 wickets (and only 1 of his 2 five-for figures), knowing that this could potentially serve to be his final test for Pakistan if he does not perform well.
Its ironic that both Sami & Faisal Iqbal made their debut in the same test but it looks like Sami has been around for much longer and Pakistan have played with so many middle order batsmen career and confidence in the meantime (5 years).
But I would have liked to see the following lineup today:
1)Taufeeq Umar
2)Faisal Iqbal
3Younis Khan
4)Mohammad Yusuf
5) Inzi
6) Yasir Arafat (I know he is not even called up from Sussex)
7) Razzak
8) Kamran Akmal
9) Mushtaq (I know he is not even called up from Sussex)
10) Samiullah
11) Umar Gul
You absolutely need a 5th bowler in test cricket & Pakistan would regret going in with only 4 here. There is not a decent 5th bowler in today's lineup for 3rd test.
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
‘Bit of a “nothing” over. Not threatening, and played comfortably by both the batsmen’ Cricinfo says..
Maybe thats why. He didnt make them play
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
I have stated before and really would like to know who really makes the decision for the final playing 11. Is it the dopey Inzi or Woolmer?
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
Sami, short and wide, four.
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
England 29-0
Sami 3-0-22-0
Gul 3-0-7-0
Whats the use of Gul exerting pressure on one end when Sami is throwing pies from other:hoonh:
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
Is this twenty20 or a test match?
Pathetic indeed.
Bowlers O M R W Econ
Mohammad Sami (rf) 4.0 0 22 0 5.50
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
6.2Mohammad Sami to Strauss, FOUR, ah, super shot – albeit to a filthy wide delivery,** absolute filth** that was. Strauss pumps it through cover off the back foot, rocketing for four. :D
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
Even by Pakistani standards, these are the most atrocious selection blunders we have seen for quite a while.
Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
Good delivery by Gul to trescothick to end the over
Eng 31-0
