3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

And the warm up session for England resumes.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

0.1 Mohammad Sami to Trescothick, no run, good ball to open up with, close to Trescothick’s off-stump. Trescothick chose to shoulder arms and just to say got away with it

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

shabash sami. your target is not to concede a boundary in this over so that we get to bowl atleast 1 more. shabash, u can do it!

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

Good maiden over by Sami.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

Umar Gul to bowl the last over of the day.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

another over… :jhanda:

come on GUL

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

2/0

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

End of play Eng 3/0

Well played Pakistan, even though we lost our way during the mid afternoon.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

Sami bowled well. I would have gladly taken 23 runs lead yesterday, but I really was hoping for our team to bat until at least lunch tomorrow, and they WERE well on their way too, stopped only by Faisal Iqbal's inability to come to the crease prepared to play the first ball. Oh well, one good thing about having a lead (HOWEVER LITTLE) is that when chasing, you konw that you have to score FEWER than what the other team did in their second innings, so it must be doable. It's a great feeling!

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

Relatively good job by Pakistan today, mainly Yousuf and Younis and in the end Kaneria did well too :k: Let see how our bowlers do tomorrow, I guess 1st session will give a big clue to whats coming.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

He should have bowled all six balls like this one.
He can be a quality bowler only if he had an iota of a brain. Pakistani bowlers should avoid the mistakes of first innings. Banging the ball short on a pitch where there is no help for the bowlers would not lead to any wickets.

I would like to see what Waqar Younis is getting paid for. The ball is not going to seam or spin but the pitch might get uneven on the fourth and fifth day. Extreme discipline of line and length would be the key to success on this track.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

i thought england would ve been under a lot of pressure if pak had managed to get a lead of more than 100.now it all depends on how well pakistani bowlers can bowl.wicket still looks pretty flat and if england gets a lead of 300,pakistan will be under pressure on the last day

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

pakistan has already sprayed quite a few deliveries outside the offstump where the batsmen were not bothered much. we should try and make them play as much as possible and that should be done with a line as close to the stumps as possible.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

To win this match...Pakistan should try to bowl England out under 300...

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

Bowl to LBWs & Yorkers… :k:

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

kaneria should turn it more than monty cause hes a wrist spiner.4th day wicket might play a few tricks.sami has to bowl fast and pitch it up forget about bowling line and length.i dont know what waqar yonis has been telling him,but bowling at 82 83 mph in order to keep a good line n length is not his strength.he should go out flat.nazir will keep it tight and swing it a bit.omar gul has to bowl better too eventhough he took 5 wickets his bowling was not all that impressive in the first innings

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

i thought sami's first over- overall was pretty good. he had decent pace, and his line was a lot better than in the last innings.

i remember waqar younis saying that sami's confidence was running pretty low and that sami was well aware of the need for him to step it up... so maybe he listened?

umm.. probably not, lol... but still a decent first over.

lastly, our bowling attack wasn't that bad if u think about it (in the first innings)... it had more to do with the bad umpiring than our bowling. we did manage to get a fair amount of good deliveries, but luck just wasn't on our side.

i feel as if we can carry over that performance, and maybe improve sami's bowling (espcially his first spell), we should mange to get them out within 300.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

yeah kaneria is the KEY... he usually excels in this situation. hopefully he can step it up tommorow.

yeah i agree that the 5 wickets made it seem like he bowled better than he did, but he still bowled pretty well i thought. near the end, he was bowling stupid short deliveries until he finally realized it and got mahmood out.

i think all the "pressure" will be on umar gul and danish kaneria, and mohammad sami and shahid nazir will be expected to step it up more.

should be an interesting day.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

I think…tomorrow…Sami & Shahid Nazir should take 5 wickets each… :k:

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

Tomorrow is the day Umar Gul needs to make his place permanent (of sort) in the team so he becomes stronger in contention when Akhtar, Asif return.
