Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.
TALKING POINT
As our thoughts continue to drift towards Australia, the prospect of another fall-out over substitutes is on the cards.
It was impossible to keep track of the comings and goings of England’s fielders - there was at least one substitute on the ground virtually throughout.
There is nothing in the laws to prevent anyone from going off, but they clearly state that you are only entitled to a substitute if you have fallen ill, or are injured.
Ricky Ponting was driven to distraction last summer, even accusing England of sharp practice when he was run out by Gary Pratt.
It is the responsibility of the umpires to make sure that liberties are not being taken, and to enforce the rules.
