Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

End of day 2 Pakistan 202/2

Well played Pakistan. :k:

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

:alhamd: good day for Pakistan … we all know about openers so they shouldn’t be counted.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

Tomorrow Pakistan add another 320 playing the full day and than another 200 by mid afternoon on day 4. A lead of 200+ and put England in and Kaneria does a multan. Pakistan wins. Life is so good. :D

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

Good fightback. It's possible for either team to work hard and force a result. England can do it and so can Pakistan. For Pakistan, the first milestone should be to bat out the whole day tomorrow, regardless of runs scored. Then only on the fourth day we can think about anything else.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

Pakistan trail by 313 runs with 8 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

Pakistan have played in a responsible fashion this time… :k:

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

It will be great to go into the fourth test match with series level and our strike bowlers coming back. England might crumble just thinking about it!

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

That was a fast climb into the 9o s for yousuf mashallah. Just a lil while ago he was in his 5o s!

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

When Pakistan is doing well, you never hear from Afridi786. :D
Good job, Pakistan, mashallah.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

Excellent fight back by Younis and Yousuf:clap:

Considering the miserable condition of Pakistan after 2nd test and then after the lunch session today, mainly due to lack of pace attack and failure of openers, it will be a big achiievemetn for them to draw this game and then come back with Asif and Shoaib for the final game.

However this match is still open. Pakistan is not out of the woods yet. They need to play full day tomorrow to reach 550. Then they will have a different approach on day 4, if they manage to do that, i.e. score quick runs before lunch.

However right now they just have to outclass English bowlers on day 3, to keep this series alive.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

I don't want to jinx younis and yousuf, but they played exceptionally well today. We need Yousuf to get another 200 + and younis to at least get a century...

Also, as for our openers... I agree they're still in shambles, but I was impressed with Salman Butt's overall performance today. He was calm and composed, and I'm sure he would have done well had he not been run out.

I hope this new found confidence can carry over into the next innings (if necessary), as well as the next match.

InshAllah.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

Excellent come back by Pakistan. I feel bad for the openers, they did all the hard work only to have it wasted by some sloppy cricket. Khair, Younis and Yousuf steadied the ship as usual with a masterful display.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Personally speaking, if Pakistan can escape this nightmare of a test unscathed then it's as good as a win. We need to bat out all day tomorrow, without any collapse. It would have been nice to have Afridi come in at 400-4 but oh well.

Faisal should justify the faith the team has shown in him and play a big one. The role Kamran and Faisal play will be crucial. We don't have the luxury of all rounders this game and our batting pretty much ends with Akmal. The tailenders can't be trusted to survive more than 5 overs. We cannot repeat the mistakes of the Lord's test match where we fell short. If Pakistan are to have a sniff of this game, they HAVE to get close to England's total.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

I read on BBC, English players kept on substituting throughout Pakistan innings today. And that too without the knowledge of the umpires. What's the story behind that. Are they allowed to do that? Why didn't the umpires take notice of that?

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

Its not allowed at all. Can you please post the source as well? :)

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

Bar from not accepting his insanity, clueless is the first word that comes to mind, amongst many others.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

Younis likes Partnerships with Yousaf,so he first got butt out of the way so to have one with him,

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

i thought salman butt played impressive... i know people are saying our openers 'failed us' again, but i really think salman butts calm composure had a lot to do with the success of the two y's.

i know mohammad yousuf is capable of batting all day... but the team is so unreliable as of late, i don't know what to expect.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

TALKING POINT

As our thoughts continue to drift towards Australia, the prospect of another fall-out over substitutes is on the cards.

It was impossible to keep track of the comings and goings of England’s fielders - there was at least one substitute on the ground virtually throughout.

There is nothing in the laws to prevent anyone from going off, but they clearly state that you are only entitled to a substitute if you have fallen ill, or are injured.

Ricky Ponting was driven to distraction last summer, even accusing England of sharp practice when he was run out by Gary Pratt.

It is the responsibility of the umpires to make sure that liberties are not being taken, and to enforce the rules.

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

^^ I dont care if England subsitute the whole team with the exception of bowlers and wicket-keeper, any team can use it any time, unless ICC (lazy @##) put a cap on it, well this is a 2nd matter at hand first they need to fix the so called elite pannel of umpires

Re: 3rd Test - Eng vs Pak - Leeds, 4th-8th Aug.

Ya and both(Yousef and Younis) have a history of run-outs as well  me and my black tounge
