See we all know Afridi is in the team due to his popularity. The reason people support him is psychological, it is not practical, it is almost like having faith in unknown. Fanboys are flattened by his looks and his “adas” in the field when he takes a wicket or hits a six.
All his ‘fanboys’ have lot of things in common, they support certain political party with a certain leader ;), they eat certain things 
etc etc. Not going in to details cuz samajhdhar ko ishara hi kafi hai.
Now had he looked like Rana Naved, or was dark like Sami, or was Bald etc then even after giving double the performance he has been giving , he would have been forgotten 15 years ago.
On top of that Pakistan lacks heros of this generation (even in cricket,) , if Pakistan had someone like even Salman Khan then Afridi would have lost half his supporters.
Now i am not bashing Afridi, he is what he is, he hasnt changed a bit in last 17 years and its not a secret. When you select him then he will perform the way he has been performing. Actually he has been very consistent with his performance in his own way. Dont blame him if you expected a different result. Blame the selectors for picking him and PCB which couldnt produce another Afridi in almost two decades.
