Neither we have 10 Afridi nor do we have 10 Umar Akmals sitting on the bench to over come "defensive" approach, however unfortunate that is.

Wahab is only in the squad because Umar Gul is injured more than half the time. Homeboy shows no consistency...none what so ever!

whenever i look at afridi i started to believe in god even more....i mean any given day azhar mahmood was way more talented than this man...but mediocre afridi ended up playing 400 ODIs for pakistan..azhar just played 100 odd ODIs... luck, qismat!!!

afridi continues to be a huge strategic liability…due to his pathetic batting, he is the weakest link between the middle order and tailenders.

since he is completely unreliable useless batsman, pakistani think tank is under psychological pressure to play wahab in every match so that at least someone can hit in the tail.

think strategically…right now wahab is not playing for its bowling, he is playing because of his somewhat hitting ability! that says it all and that is why he played ahead of junaid in last 2 ODIs…

In the end wahab will never become the type of alrounder we are trying to make out of him. as a bowler he is mentally weak and will almost always leak runs in critical conditions

If afridi was even 50% more consistent, we could have gone with a better bowler option than wahab…i would say play rehman..spin is WI weakness.

See we all know Afridi is in the team due to his popularity. The reason people support him is psychological, it is not practical, it is almost like having faith in unknown. Fanboys are flattened by his looks and his "adas" in the field when he takes a wicket or hits a six.

All his 'fanboys' have lot of things in common, they support certain political party with a certain leader ;), they eat certain things ;) etc etc. Not going in to details cuz samajhdhar ko ishara hi kafi hai.

Now had he looked like Rana Naved, or was dark like Sami, or was Bald etc then even after giving double the performance he has been giving , he would have been forgotten 15 years ago.

On top of that Pakistan lacks heros of this generation (even in cricket,) , if Pakistan had someone like even Salman Khan then Afridi would have lost half his supporters.

Now i am not bashing Afridi, he is what he is, he hasnt changed a bit in last 17 years and its not a secret. When you select him then he will perform the way he has been performing. Actually he has been very consistent with his performance in his own way. Dont blame him if you expected a different result. Blame the selectors for picking him and PCB which couldnt produce another Afridi in almost two decades.

My two hot and cold cents about his matter.
