39 MQM candidates in Punjab lost NA election

Looks like MQM is just a regional party restricted to certian ares of Sindh. MQM should be thankful to their counter part Sindhis who have allowed MQM, inspite of being minority in Sindh, to rule for many years, more than PPP ever ruled in Sindh. I hope that MQM will respond with the same gesture by respecting Sindhis and allow PPP to form Sindh government. Sindh’s survival is dependent only on their co-existance.

MQM said that they will nominate Prime Minister of Election 2013. LoL … :Dhere is what they said before the Election 2008.

MQM nominee to be PM after next polls, hopes Altaf

By Muhammad Azeem Samar

KARACHI: **Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain has said his party would be able to nominate its prime minister and chief minister of the Sindh province after the general elections due in 2013 as popularity of the party is spreading elsewhere in the country.
**
He was delivering a telephonic address from London to a large number of participants of three election-related meetings of the MQM held at Shah Faisal Colony, Orangi Town, and North Karachi late Friday evening.

Altaf Hussain said his party would launch more developmental projects if voted to power at the federal level. He said the party this time had been given a chance to work freely and; thus, it conceived and materialised several developmental projects.

He said the MQM would make utmost efforts to ensure peace and security on February 18 so that the day of polling could be observed as a day of peace and democracy. He said other political and religious parties had to play their part also in order to maintain peace and security on the election day.

He said it is obligatory for every patriotic citizen of the country that he should play his/her role to materialise peaceful holding of polls. He said Ulema and leaders of various communities had an important responsibility regarding peaceful conduct of elections.

He said activists and workers of various contesting parties are strictly required to avoid confrontation and clash with each other and restrict their role in accordance with the code of elections.

Altaf Hussain appealed to masses that they should vote for MQM candidates in order to break previous records of party electoral victory. He said uninterrupted development work in Karachi for another five years would turn the metropolis into a symbol of progress and development. The MQM leader also recalled political services of party workers and activists, who had sacrificed their lives during the Army and paramilitary operations launched in 1992.

Wasn’t ‘100-page reply’ Saleem claiming they were growing throughout Pakistan??

Anywhere they can’t do their gunda tactics, including forced fraud, they will lose.

They will always be restricted to Laluket type areas, and people like Saleem :cb:

Re: 39 MQM candidates in Punjab lost NA election

Granted, I do believe that MQM is one of the biggest secular terrorist organizaions (no one ever accepts this definition of terrorism, I mean if they're not crazy bearded men running amock with Qurans waving around, then they can't be using the tactic of terror!), however...

MQM's work in Karachi as of late has been an improvement over past PPP controlled city governments. Karachi is looking like a completely different city these days.

Of course, there are some neglected areas in Karachi, and they always will be as long as poor people inhabit those areas. But the economically, and in terms of transportation and roads, there's been improvement under MQM leadership. Now how much actually went into their pockets is still a different issue. But I'd rather have a chor in power who does SOMETHING for the country as oppose to a chor in power who does nothing, like Zardari's party. As of now PPP hasn't come up with one solid idea or plan that they want to market to the people. They're just hell bent on getting Mush out of power. What is that going to solve? So one of their guys will get to enjoy the rainshower of money coming from the West. What will they do regarding major issues plaguing the country? So far, the solution for terrorism is that they want to have dialogue with them...this wont be going down very well, I can tell you that, beacause haven't these bewaqoof's learned that terrorists are not interested in a free and secular Pakistan where religion is not forced down your throat and where secular yet religiously permitted activities take place like screams in shock music, and women being able to go shopping and travel without males with them, and women and minorities being able to hold jobs and earn income, people deciding whether or not they want to grow a beard or get a crew cut?

Re: 39 MQM candidates in Punjab lost NA election

In Punjab MQM has been following the same plan as they did in Karachi. They looked for young men in trouble with law, gave them guns and money and lured them to join MQM. The other group of people joining them in Punjab are actors who have been promised work in Indian film industry, third group is urdu speaking community settled in Punjab. If it was not May12 and their full backing of Musharraf, they were making gains in Punjab, and it was quite possible that they could win few seats in Punjab. However, with Imran Khan's stance against them and with Nawaz back to reclaim his political power and May 12, its all back to zero for MQM in Punjab.

Re: 39 MQM candidates in Punjab lost NA election

Any information on how many votes they got in their constituencies in 2002, 2008? That would be interesting to know. Thanks!

Re: 39 MQM candidates in Punjab lost NA election

MQM has such a bad reputation elsewhere in Pakistan.
