38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

Dozens of our superior justices now seem to be falling in line as well, and have taken a new oath under the new PCO, including:-

ALL of the 5 judges of the Balochistan High Court.
MAJORITY (7 of 13) of the Peshawar High Court judges.
MAJORITY of the Lahore High Court judges i.e. 13 have already and 5 more will.
4 judges of the Sindh High Court.
4 judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

And more to be offered in coming days.

So 38 Judges have taken (or will take) an oath on the PCO. So much for judicial unity in face of the new order.

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

Long live “free” judiciary :dhimpak:

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

The new CJ - the honourable Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar was appointed as a judge by Benazir Bhutto's government in 1995, and I believe his domicile is Sindh.

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

^ oh Benazir... surprise surprise.

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

But he is not Sindhi.

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

These judges are all guilty of treason (along with Mush) in my book. :k:

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

Thats good. They all will be sitting in their empty chambers b/c no lawyer will appear before these Mushrrafs lotas.

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

I am disappointed the lawyers have not come to the streets like in March of this year?

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

Well when close to 50% of the superior judges have now sworn an oath the PCO, they won't know who/what exactly they will be supporting or opposing. :)

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

I think there will be lawyers.... the lota lawyers.

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

14 out 17 judges of the SC refused to take oath under PCO. Thats lot more than what was expected. Fight for nation's future starts now. Let see how long the junta survives.

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

I guess you're right. If you can't buy a lota, you can always rent one.

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

hopefully some lotas would later turn on him, like the biggest lota iftikhar did. after all he did take oath on the dictator's stuff earlier.

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

Iftikahar Chaudhry himself is a PCO judge. So, why is he complaining about all these judges that have taken the new oath? Is that because he was not invited?

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

Yep he did, so there is no reason that the ex-CJ Iftikhar or any of his supporters to cry now when some 44 Superior Judges have ignored his call, and swore an oath on the new PCO. This now includes 5 Supreme Court judges.

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

And hundreds more are either under house arrest or beaten badly or in jail.

Re: 38 Superior Judges take oath under PCO

More and more judges taking the oath under the PCO, and disregarding the orders of ex-CJ Iftikhar.

Four more SC judges to take oath today

ISLAMABAD: Four more judges, one each from Balochistan and Sindh and two from the NWFP, will take oath as Supreme Court justices today (Tuesday) under the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO). Newly appointed Chief Justice of Pakistan Abdul Hameed Dogar will administer the oath, sources told Daily Times on Monday. The four judges are former Federal Shariat Court chief justice Ijaz Yousaf, who is from Balochistan, Sindh High Court Justice Musa K Leghari and two judges of the Peshawar High Court.

The sources said the government was trying to persuade justices Ch Ijaz, Jamshed Ali and Tasaddaq Hussain Jilani to take fresh oath under the PCO. They are among 14 judges who refused to take oath under the PCO on Saturday. They said that some defiant judges had contacted the government for their re-induction as SC judges. “Among them are Justice Javed Iqbal and Justice Sardar Raza Khan,” the sources said, adding that the government was reluctant to re-induct them for various reasons. irfan ghauri
