Good to hear… Hope they continue to kill these rats.
‘Militants die’ in Pakistan clash
Pakistani troops have killed at least 35 militants near the north-west border with Afghanistan, the army says.
Military spokesman Maj-Gen Waheed Arshad said fierce clashes in the North Waziristan tribal area began late on Sunday night and were still continuing.
Two soldiers had been killed and seven others wounded, the military said.
Dozens of security force personnel have been killed by the militants since the army stormed a controversial mosque in Islamabad earlier in July.
Artillery
The military said the fighting started when two army check posts in the Miranshah area were attacked by militants.
Troops have come under attack in recent days
Afterwards the army “took action to apprehend” the militants using helicopter gunships and artillery, a spokesman told the BBC.
Last Wednesday officials said that at least 17 Pakistani soldiers had been killed in the area in an ambush by militants. Twelve militants were also reported to have died in the clash.
At that time President Musharraf ruled out declaring an emergency in the country.
There have been a spate of attacks - most in the north-west but others elsewhere - since soldiers stormed the radical Red Mosque in the capital.
The mosque assault prompted militants along the border to scrap controversial peace accords with the government.
Werent all these Islamic militants trained by ISI to create havoc in Indian Kashmir , under the guise of Jihad and moral support?
No no, your information does not go far back enough. they were trained by ISI and CIA, funded by USA and Saudi Arabia, and armed by USA to fight the soviets. Their activities in India came much after the russkies had left.
We are celebrating the loss of life here? Pakpatriot, this is disappointing. What difference is there between us and OBL who congratulated his misguided lot on the 9/11 attacks. What difference is there between us and those idiots on Palestenian streets exchanging sweets after 9/11. If we r going to be acting like this, then I am afraid we have already lost the moral high ground. We r not only supporting war but rejoicing in the death of so many. We don't even know yet from independent sources if any of them were innocent civilians or not.

the difference is that these people are killers who died in gun battles with the Pakistan Army
where is OBL flew civilian planes into buildings to kill thousands of innocent people
How do we know that the guys killed were terorrists? Lets wait till independent verifications. And I agree, relief is fine...but "Mubarak ho"?? Military used gunships and artillery fire. Why r we discounting collateral damage? How come all those killed were militants? Since when r our fire arms so precise? I am going to take this with a pinch of salt.

lets say that the people killed were militants..are you not relieved?
you can still be relieved and at the same time be sad about any innocent victims.
He had a passport? how many people in Pakistan have passports in general? just a general inquiry.
Now in the end still, if he was there and got caught in the crossfire then its bad, but the responsibility is of the people who used that place as a fortress.
I can be sad for the loss of innocent ppl, yet can be relieved that the gang was dislodged and destroyed.
Some displaced widows from the 2005 earthquake were living in Lal Masjid. They had no alternative. This guy's parents might have been from Kashmir. A large no. of families from the area migrated to England so his father might have taken him to UK sometime. Whatever the reason, whats sad is that the administration apparently did not try to find out his where abouts and threw away his passport along with Quran's in a dump.

They had no alternative then to stay and die? or did they ahve an alternative to get on their feet and walk out. At some point in time personal responsibility has to be factored in. If they made the decision to stay then sorry..they had ample opportunity, but they chose not to avail it, and if they were being held against their will then the responsibility is of the hostage takers, not military.

How do you know teh govt did not try to find about his whereabouts? now when we say his own whereabouts are not known, are people looking for him, or some reporter picked up the passport and does not know where is the kid. its rather unclear.

Did the abandonment of State duty for shelter and food help the Lal Masjid clerics indoctrinate these poor souls? Assuming they did not leave. I've said before, Lal Masjid operation did become inevitable at a certain point but the way things are going, I hardly see any soul searching on govt's part. It's easy to say we won't allow anymore Lal Masjid's. But HOW?

just because you dont see soul searching on govts part does not mean it does not happen, it may be happening it may happen later. it may not happen at all. Just because it is not visible to avg joes does not mean somewhere soemthing is not happening. it also becomes a question of priorities and resources. My only point of reference is infrastructure planning for urban areas in pakistan, when ppl were sayign govt has noplan or has no idea of issues, that was a time when govt had world bank supported projects to understand what was going on. I myself went with crews measuring the flow levels of sewage in different parts of the city at diff times to develop a clear picture of levels and then extrapolate that with population trends to see what would be the ideal solution, and then have to compare that with funding to figure out what was teh optimal solution with the finding limitations. anyways I digress.
