once again, our players don't get paid enough playing for their national team so they have to go to overseas to make some extra cash, its the same deal with the cricket teams.

Why can they get more, so they don't have to go overseas.

No one is stopping any Hockey players not to go overseas, play and make extra money. What I pointed out, being Sr. players, Sohail Abbas, Muhammad Nadeem and Muhammad Wasim should have informed the PHF authorities before leaving for Germany.

Once again, PT you are in a big misunderstanding, they shouldn't have gone to Germany to play regardless of anything, had they been paid more by the PHF, they could have only foucussed on the Pakistani hockey team.

No, it's you. :p

My argument is about discipline & respect. Money is not an issue here. Neither, players have said something like that. Hearing b/w PHF and Sr. players hasn't started yet, dear. :)

If Sr. player were in need of money, they could have earn a loan from the local Bank.

Money is the issue, thats why Pak hockey players traveled to Germany to play for club teams, had they been paid more by PHF, such thing would not had happened.

:rotfl: :rotfl:

Come on guys, dont make fun of him, hes a very nice guy!!!

Lesson of the day. Never argued without backing up your statement.

Prime Minister Jamali had announced the Financial Package for PHF right after Pakistan’s victory in the Azlan Shah Cup. Go ahead and read the news.

If you didn't know, it was just bonus given by Jamali to PHF for hockey players.
It doesn't say anything about raising their match fees permanently.

I still think our players should be paid more so they don't go off wondering in other countries for money.

Thanks for reminding me, here is a perfect example of what I was talking about, read the article carefully and see why our players go overseas just to get some extra cash so they can support themselves.

The package includes:-

  • Restoration of employment quota for sportsmen and hockey players.

  • Free International air tickets to Pakistan senior and junior teams by national career Pakistan International Air lines.

  • Recommendation to direct all the provincial Governments to allot prime locations commercial plots to PHF to construct shopping malls or Gas stations so that PHF can have permanent and regular sources of income.

When PHF doesn't face Economic, it pays off the players. :) The article you posted was a year old, dated year 2002. Frankly, the people in Pakistan care less about Hockey as the Cricket Mania has taken over the grip. The facilities aren't as good as they were used to be in the 70s-90s but now the Govt. has began to provide the same 'Status Quota' for each sport category. Be it Cricket, Hockey, Squash or Tennis.

Regarding Sr. Players, like it or not, I'm still firm on my point. They should have informed PHF authority before leaving to Germany 'cause they are the Sr. Players and should set an example for the upcoming Generation of Hockey. :)

No doubt these players are getting good facilities, good hotels, services etc but are they getting pay raises, I think that even Indian, Australian, German etc will be alot more than what these guys get.
Once again I am not talking about facilities but the match fees they receive from PHF, which is not much.

So are you saying they only get paid when PHF is not in economic trouble. Just like cricket, there were hockey tournaments also held in Pakistan between 2001-2002, they were cancelled due to security fears.
There is no doubt people care less about hockey then cricket, but thats not something new, cricket has taken over Pakistan since mid 70s. Still even 10 years ago when Pakistan was at its prime in hockey, they were being paid heavily, was it because of their record?

No body is denying the fact that they should be disciplined for going out of the country without permission, but if PHF wants to stop this the they have to do something about players fee.
