Nope! Never! Impossible! Simply because i’m a very sensitive person and i do not share my guy! A heart can only belong to one. That’s why i’ll make sure I write a contract with him before marriage regarding if he ever decides to remarry, he should give me my divorce paper first:aj:Who doesn’t want me, to hell with him!)

there is no one reason as to why ppl have more than 1 wife, as my friend says key why are 4 GHALTIYAAN allowed in islam when the guy has to live wid the pehlee ghaltee in the first place LOL, n e ways there are more then 1 reason y, to name a few examples i have seen in ma own life are :
- first wife "GOD FORBID" cant concieve so parents force the son.
- an old flame comes back in the life
- one of my personal favorites the guy wanted to teach his annoying wife a lesson.
many other reasons.

there are valid reasons to have a second wife BUT I have yet to see a man marry a 2nd with a valid reason. Those that I know and even that I have only heard of thru the grapevine have invariably married again because they couldnt keep their fly zipped. Shame, shame on YOU. And KUDOs to those who marry more than one for truly valid reasons - although those men seem to be fairy tale creatures.

what is WRONG with them? ok, they get all horny and google-eyed outta control when they see an attractive woman. They go out and get a gal (NOT their wife) pregnant and then marry her. First wife and kids with first wife are DEVASTATED. But most of the time HAVE to deal with it all. Fact remains that they're still devastated and rightly so. All for the piggishness of the guy. THATS whats wrong with it.
Sorry, no disrespect intended to the real purposes of multiple wives here. I've just NEVER seen it put to use in practice.

Multiple wives phenomenon is more cultural than religious. I doubt Middle Eastern think of polygamy the same way Pakistanis do.

first wife not very considerate, he develops a liking for another woman, trying to give protection to a widow or a poor girl,

i know one pakistani and 2 bahraini guys who have more than one wife....
the paksitani: he married, had kids with the first wife.... then his cousin got divorced and her married her too so that she wud not be alone.... then later on in his life, both his wives stopped caring for him and sometimes did not even talk to him, so he married a third....
this bahraini guy happens to be a shia friend of mine.... he was in love with a girl and his parents wanted him to marry someone else, so he ended up marrying both.... then some years back he fell in love with an egyptian lady and married her as well.... have not met him for some time so dont know if he has added to his list or not....
this bahraini guy happens to be a sunni colleague of mine.... happily married with kids.... and then he ends up marrying his wife's close friend.... is living a trouble-free life....
also i met in an umrah trip a man who has 2 wives.... his mother complained too much of his first wife not looking after her, and the wife and mother did not go along well....so he married another one hoping she'll live happily with his mother....

I'm married in an arab family and most of my in-laws side, friends and colleagues have more than 1 wife. they all lead normal lives and accept each other as family. This is very common in the middle-east.

One can safely draw a positive conclusion from this thread, that is, second marriage works fine as long as the man knows how to keep a balance between two spouses. I never knew there will be so many positive examples but then most of them are from the Middle East.

Hey, you know, I do understand basic instincts and all that but when you add civilized society and "free will", the ability to understand and act with understanding then you have to overcome your "baser instincts" for the good of your family and your little ones. Yes, man has the instinct to spread it around as much as possible but that does not give man the right to do so - not in civilized society anyway. Like I've said time and time again....the allowance for multiple wives was intended to benefit women and children who could not care for themselves. NEVER have I seen it put into practice. Those that I've seen and heard of who have more than 1 wife have them because they're horny turds.

I am not saying everyone should do it but I am not going to put a ban on it like in western societies. I guess it might have to do with the "system" as well since you get bigger tax cuts for married filling jointly and a person with many wives could claim more exceptions? I wonder what those polythiestic groups do in that situation? I guess the the US govt doesn't allow more than 1 exception for marriage for them?
