2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

Nice statistics: If ‘SK’ makes 200 then he would share the record with ‘Lara’ of scoring second highest number of double centuries (9 each) after Bradman (12 double centuries). Highest for Pakistan is of JM (6 double centuries).

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

^ bradman was just amazing, 52 matches 12 double centuries while the next one Lara 131 matches and 9 doubles.

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

^^^ You are right, Bradman was special. But then, cricket at that time was different too, with no restriction of time (some test lasting days until it finished), little entertainment requirement (as it is today with TV and Radio coverage), short in skill spin bowling or swing fast bowling, trained fielders, lack of strict professional umpiring, etc. Regardless, even though one cannot say how he would have done in today's cricket, one cannot take away his merit.

One more thing about Bradman is that, his average was over 100 when he came to play his last inning. Unfortunately he got out 'duck' though needing just 4 runs to keep that average of over 100.

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

Yes it was a different era so cannot say how comeptitve it was but even than there was the fast bowling bodyline controversy, so there were very good bowlers in those days as well. Secondly even during that era no one else matched his record. So as you say he was special.

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

I absolutely agree with you. No doubt Bradman was far ahead of other cricketers who were his contemporaries. The difference between Bradman and his contemporary cricketers was much wider than achievements of later cricketers compared to their contemporary adversaries.

As far as present Pakistani players are concerned, most rely on natural talent and connections (something true in all Pakistani fields). They do not care about merit or hard work to polish their natural cricketing abilities. Actually, such behaviour, expectations and to achieve progress in life, use of connection is true in every Pakistani fields.

That is why when we see Pakistanis talking about cricketers (or anyone in any field -barring exceptions), they do not talk about players’ abilities, merits, figures, achievements and skills, but talk about their personal like and dislike of players (mostly based on some sort of connections with them).

**SL 391 all out

Junaid 5 wickets.

if only rain had not runined this match, Paksitan had a chance.

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

More importantly Sangakkara missed out on another double-century. :hoonh: I believe he was out on 192.

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

Abdur Rehman shahzada laga aey!

A fine hand of 36 of 22 balls, with three 4s and three 6s!

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

Tea - Day 5

Players are walking off, but there is still no word about a declaration. Pakistan are 259 ahead, and there are still 40 overs remaining in the day.

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

DECLARED. What is that about? One over after the break? Illogical.

Pakistan 551/6d & 100/2d (18.0 ov)

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

SL 260 in 37 overs. :hmmm:

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

261 not 260 . . .

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

2.5 Junaid Khan to Paranavitana, FOUR, edged between slips and gully for four more, Junaid can't believe it, Paranavitana pushes at the ball and gets a thick edge

2.1 Junaid Khan to Dilshan, 2 runs, length ball outside off, pushed towards extra cover, Sri Lanka chance the quick single, Misbah had one stump to aim at, he missed, else Dilshan would have been gone, instead there is an overthrow

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

Tussi khush rawao

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

Sri Lanka 391 &** 33/0 (7.0 ov)**

Sri Lanka require another 228 runs with 10 wickets remaining

 • Sri Lanka RR 4.71
 • Min overs remaining 30.0

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

9.3
Abdur Rehman to Paranavitana, no run, loud appeal for lbw, was struck outside the line of the stumps so thats not out, one of the Pakistan fielders asks for the DRS, umpire Taufel smiles at that

15.4
Abdur Rehman to Paranavitana, no run, big lbw appeal, Rehman can't belive that isn't given out, that spun a long way in, still seemed to strike him outside off

Re: 2nd Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at SSC Columbo, Jun 30- Jul 4, 2012

No doubt its a brave decision by Misbah and if Lankans ll not go for it then this is their failure! Bcoz home condition, falt pitch, inform batsmen, every thing was in their favor.
