2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

He steadied the ship when, that coward over rated player ran away, and gelled the team as a unit and his record speaks for itself. But to quote you "haters will hate" and there is not a lot that can be done in that respect.

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

Yes he quitted the captaincy because he knew he cant play TESTS that was in favour of Pakistan........Else he could have contiuned like Misbah and just play for himself at this age ...............Does Misbah have the guts to step down from ODI?? He was even removed as T20 captain cz he was taking someone's place........Afridi is not like that he quitted the captaincy the day he knew that he cant play Tests anymore but haters will hate.......Cz after few months He took us to the Semis of the WC where again this Misbah screwed up

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

You are right, even your grandpa can average 58 in Test matches, right? “lost all Test series” is a lie, we tied most of the Test series :chai:

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

How many runs did your hero score. Straight answer please, just the number of runs he scored during the semi final. Did he rise to the occassion and play a captains innings. Also can you give details of his brilliant performance in T/20. Ths dancer on the pitch lost us T/20 cup. Easy to say things like that.

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

23 is the number of wickets he took in the WC...........Highest by By Any Captain in the History of WorldCup.......Three dropped catches of Tendulkar off his bowling in the Semi one of them Misbah dropped.......I dun care how many score he made.....When he came Misbah had already cost us the game......And besides he single handedly too us to the semi final......He cant win you you every match with his ball and bat......

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

Misbah lost us the T20WC 2007 in which Afridi was the Man of the tournament again.....And in the very next T20 he won it for us by two back to back Match winning performances in Semis and Finals ......Won us one WC Which Misbah can only dream of in his whole life!

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

GUYS!!!! Its not about loving one or hating the other, the issue is that the gutless, lame approach from PCB where they don't select a young energetic person who actually deserves a place in the squad to be actually "GROOMED" to be a replacement for Mr. Incumbent captain.
YK could groom a replacement better because he won't teach the "wait and watch" or "block block" strategy through his own behavior. Where as you can see the affect of Misbah on Azhar. When Azhar first appeared he made a public statement that " I can solve Pakistan's middle order collapse problem". He meant that he can stay at the wicket. However staying at the wicket does not mean simply "blocking till eternity". He debuted under Afridi/Butt series. Then progressed to the "Misbah world". Now look at him, without any progress towards learning to rotate strike or defend/attack balance style, he is now a shadow of Misbah-ul-haq 10 years behind in age.
Same could happen to Asad, unless Asad gets more chance to take after other more balanced players.

So, coming back to my point initially, Pakistan cricket needs a captain in Test and ODI, today, who can groom a captain to take over in a few years, hopefully by WC 2015. If Misbah continues he will just teach what he knows best. Its not about calling Misbah "bad" rather understanding his inabilities and how they are restricting Pakistan team.
The question for PCB, as always, is that "What is your plan for the future of team leadership?!"

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

Exactly :yk: is the man who takes the youngsters with himself and gives them confidence and then they score…Azhar Ali scored 157 against England YK was there with him guided him same with Asad in the recent innings…Introduced Umar Akmal and Mohammad Amir…Whereas Whenever Misbah is batting with Azhar and Asad you see they look out of sorts you can see the latest innings by Azhar …Misah cant guide others cz he was just saving himself

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

how many runs did he score and did he play a captains innings. Simple question?

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

again skirting the issue, what happened in the last T/20 please elaborate.

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

What do you want Azhar to do, start hitting out when we are two wickets down before 10 runs.

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

Agreed.

You need people like Azhar to stick around on the wicket, or most Pakistan test matches would finish before the end of the third day. If it were up to me, I’d clone this guy and play two Azhars, considering how rare a breed this guy is for Pakistan cricket.

0-60 in 3.5 seconds does not always work out, particularly when you have Bradmen like Afridi and Umer Akmal doing the driving.

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

This should be in jokes section. Who saved Pakistan against England in Dubai last year, just look at the scorecard and tell me who the two players were batting together at the time. Time to stop making sweeping statements. For your information it was Azhar and Asad.

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

Out of 4 T20 WC he had 1 poor WC only and that was the last one.........

When did i said they were not? Or Did I?What Misbah did?

Younis scored century in the 3rd Test where Azhar was with him scored 157 ......

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

Im not saying that he should start hitting everything…He faced 200 balls for 60 odd runs…Too slow in the context that he nearly played 4 5 maiden overs against Peterson and Philander was bowling with old ball when he is not dangerous at all…

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

I can understand what you are saying, but someone has to play the sheet anchor role. :flowers: Yeah, 200 for 60 could be a lot better, but in the context, what can you expect. If he scored a 30 in 60 balls and got out, it wouldn’t have done much for the team. If you need AB de Villiers for Pakistan, we’ll need to look at grooming other players.

At the very least it tires the opposing players out. Most of our other batsmen get out fast, get out early. How will the pitch break out, how will the other team tire out, and how will the scored card look if we scored 220 runs in 60 overs all out. The other team will have little to no urgency and can dictate the proceedings while batting and bowling. Heck, we won’t even be able to drag test matches to the fifth days and try to go for a draw.

Yes, I want Azhar to improve the scoring rate if he can, but staying on the crease and consuming overs is also important.

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

Doesnt the anchor role belongs to Misbah in our time? I mean if Azhar has to play the anchor role then what was Misbah doing them
Even with the anchor roles they played still we could not drag the test match to fifth day buddy. Then why not be positive at start just like Asad and Younis plays..Try to upset the bowlers line and length rather than going into the blocking mode…Anyhow Azhar and Asad are our future..Infact one of them can be our future captain too!

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

Misbah was being himself, I guess. :hoonh: There is a reason why he has so few centuries in all format. As a captain he should be doing much better when batting, instead of hitting sixes and then blocking the next 10 balls. Regardless, while I agree Azhar should try and play faster, but I don’t mind him if he scores slowly in tests.

Let him do what he does best, and improve at his own pace. There already are guys who play fast in our team at various positions.

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan Vs. South Africa - Feb. 14, 2013, Newlands, Capetown RSA

to score some decent runs and rotate the strike. Where did I say he need to be another pinch hitter?

After Misbah’s traumatic effect on Azhar Ali:
56 runs, 172 balls
63 runs, 150 balls
90 runs, 175 balls
28 runs, 135 balls (this is the game where they didn’t want to chase 354 in less than a day of play and went for a draw)

You are right, Misbah had huge impact on Azhar Ali’s strike rate, it dropped from whopping 39.75 to pathetic 39.22

:chai:

I am as much hurt by our defensive tactics in Test matches by all captains so far, but just because you are irritated at supposedly “tuk-tuking” of Misbah you are extending it unnecessarily and over-analyzing it.
