Looks like Shoaib Akhtar is fine now and MIGHT paly the 2nd test. He was discharged from hospital, according to cricinfo. And Malik will most likely miss 2nd test.

this is terrible news. Looks like Sami will play again! Hopefully Shoaib gets fit in time otherwise we are totally doomed. I hope Malik stays injured and Younis can captain the side with Faisal Iqbal in the side. Faisal is a very good player of spin and will be much more comfortable facing Kumble and Harbhajan.
With all these injuries…im sure Akmal wont get dropped as he is “experienced” Why dont Sami or Akmal ever get injured??

Just saw some latest photos on Pak team's training in Kolkata, looks like Shoaib Malik will 99.9% miss tomorrow's test. He seems to be in quite a bit of pain with that twisted ankle.
They can't play cricket properly, why the heck do they even try with soccor/rugby!

it is ridiculous......how come shoaib and smai are playin this test match....every one knows that they are not fit....poor players..they are under immense pressure and that is why they are playing the match.....

this is ridiculous....he should not be playin this game......i dont know man.....unfit shoaib would be a disaster.....arafat should have played the match.....how could you play in such condition

Say what you will about Sami's bowling, but for a number 9 batsman - Sami's batting technique is top-notch. He was playing Kumble better than most.
I will say, Sami should be a regular feature. His inclusion in the team provides a window of opportunity for Pakistan to run through opposing team's batting line-ups. Also, Mohammad Sami should be moved up the order, possibly where he can permanently take in on Inzamam's place and build his reputation as an all-rounder. Destructive bowling, great hitting and one of the best fielders in the world. Mohammad Sami has not been given proper opportunities. His peak is yet to arrive. Allow him a 3-5 year period to grow and mature.
