heard that the wicket @ Eden Garden is going to be a slow one and will be helping spinners. India surely will go with Kumble & Harbhajan. And we will have kaneria.

Another classic stunt from PCB when they sent Afridi back home eventhough they knew that the test series probables announced by India had 3 specialist spinners.

spot on..... but when a doctor is running the PCB, an army general is running the country, and a banker is the prime-minister, what else do you expect...afirdi could be really effective on these pitches...i am sure he would have taken a wicket or 2...

Akhtar will be fine. He and Gul can be dangerous; watch out Indian "legends" (by that I refer to Ganguly).

In 34 games since 1933, no team has beat India at this stadium without spin from both ends, except one team in 83. That team played only one spinner, Rojer harper who didn’t get any wickets in the 8 overs he bowled.

We only have one other spinner in the side, Abdul Rehman, so he has to play. Maybe Shoaib is injured or something otherwise it made no sense whatsoever for him not to bowl.

Akhtar sick, Malik injured, Gul injured, and now Misbah is sick too. Does Pakistan even have enough players to field an 11? How about a quick recall for Inzi... he's already in India.

And how come Sami never gets injured? Once he gets into the team, it's very very hard to kick him out.

^ Say what you will about Sami's bowling, but for a number 9 batsman - Sami's batting technique is top-notch. He was playing Kumble better than most.

True, something I have been mentioning for months now.
Most of our Pakistani Batsmen are below par when facing spin.
But still aint no reason to let him approve for the next game.

Crap! You're making a hoopla as if the BCCI chooses the Pakistan Cricket Team!

You guys send your own team for playing. Who gives a damn if there's an astronomical difference in experience. By that logic, A weaker team wouldn't win ever.

More importantly, as far as I remember, Sachin/Saurav/Laxman/Dravid have been all playing since Wasim/Waqar/Inzi/Saqlain have been. Who told them pak cricketers to retire!! These are facets of cricket every team has to live with.

So please, back off and respect the fact that the opponent is much better both in terms of skill and application therefore.

^ Asim Kamal hasnt even performed in the domestic cricket to earn a recall. Wesey tu Faisala Iqbal recent form was also pathetic. You just never know with PCB.

Kolkata is a spinning wicket. Faisal Iqbal is a good player of spin. Also, Akmal is a good player of spin if he can find his long-lost form with the bat (I'm giving up all hope of Akmal finding his form with the gloves).

We might as well accept the fact that Sami and Akmal are a reality and here to stay. Kambakht neither of them ever gets injured. Maybe time to push Akhtar to have a "friendly" chat with both of them :)

lets keep it simple. these players don’t get injured then they play county cricket in UK. heck 20+ games on the trot and they are still as fit as a horse and when it comes to playing for pak, aik match ke bad hi mariyal tatu ki terhan farash pe.

as for the possibility of playing 2nd test match without star players, well its not india’s fault that bench strength of pak team is not very good/dependable. pak had star players in first match n still lost.
