Akmal gone. Balance of the game again swings towards India. Hopefully Sami and tail will save the follow-on with Misbah, but from there on, the prospects are still decidedly bleak for Pakistan to save the game.

However, I gotta say, after the disastrous display by Pak top order this morning, the phenomenal batting by Akmal and Misbah has come as a very refreshing change. Well played Akmal. 119 is a fantastic score especially in the dire situation it was made.
And Misbah… I gotta admit that before I knew him, all Misbahs I knew were women… but you Da Man!!! :k:

I can only second that.
What is now important, not to get carried away for the next series and please don’t believe Akmal can open matches. Leave him where he is. I’m still very much disappointed with his wk. He needs to improve or leave (especially odis).

A great fightback by Pakistan. Hats off to Akmal and Misbah. What a partnership, if only one of our other regular batsmen had batted with the same conviction. Misbah has been a revelation. If the tails stays with him tomorrow than Inshallah we will avoid the follow on.

can pakistan pull -off a win from here?tThey are in same situation as india was against aussies in 2000.india went on to follow on then dravid-laxman partnership came and india went on to win that match.pakistan is today in same situation still 2 days to go instead of playing for draw will they play for a win?And who know if they pull off this surprise win coz eden garden is always famous for its surprises.

I thought against following the game today. Sometimes it helps not to watch the game when your team isn’t doing that well and look they recovered miraculously. India still very much in control of the game. That said I would be very disappointed if Pakistan don’t draw from here.
Faisal bhai: I think Pakistan can still save this game. A follow on by a narrow margin might actually be a blessing in disguise as it’s much easier to bat on the 4th than on the 5th day of a test. I have a feeling though that Kumble won’t enforce the follow on and would prefer to bat on the 4th day. Pakistan therefore must prepare themselves to bat thru the last 4 sessions of the test to save the game.

I’m very pessimistic regarding Pakistans through out performance at India. I don’t believe we can save this game any more. I hope they prove me wrong.

Just got up to check the score... didn't follow today's play at all, so it's a nice surprise to see we got two centuries. About Akmal, well I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing that he got the century. This would mean that there's no chance of replacing him now. On the other hand, PCB wasn't going to replace him anyway, so it's good that he finally got amongst the runs.
Inzi’s terror lives on. 
Still need 58 to avoid follow-on.
