2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Looks like a draw.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Good competitive cricket by India. I wish Pakistan could bat like that against Australia in Australia. Forget 500+, when was the last time Pakistan scored 400 in a single test innings in Australia? Our batting is so inconsistent that if we score 300 in Australia, we think we have done really well.

India usu. do well at Sydney. Ponting will likely declare after an hour's batting tomorrow setting India a target of around 290 in 70 overs. India are unlikely to (or should n't) get bowled out in that time so Steve Waugh's record of 16 straight test wins should stand. Indian bowlers seem to have the measure of Ponting who is averaging just 15.75 after 4 innings (63 runs). Even a draw is like a moral victory for an opponent against this all-conquering Australian side.

weather is supposed to be cloudy, i hope there is no rain to ruin the fun.

funny things have happened on day 5,

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Not indian bowlers, Harbhajan only. Watch him score heavily in the next test if Harbhajan is banned :)

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Tendulkar averages more against Australia in their own backyard (1260 runs @ 60 in 14 Tests) than at home (51.87). And he averages a whopping 326 at Sydney!
His overall average against Australia (56.49) is the best among contemporary batsmen

Lara averaged 51 against Australia

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Hussey has a batting average of 80.58 in 31 Test Innings.

That's something.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

And the great Jaffer - the king of dead pitches - goes out once again - predictably caught in the slips to the 5th ball of the innings

India 4/1

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Looks like India is going for a draw.

Replays show that Johnson had over-stepped on the delivery with which he got Dravid’s edge in the previous over. Benson didn’t spot it.

they never do that when indians are bowling :bailan:

IND 48/2

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

tendu gone aswell :smack2:

Clark to Tendulkar, OUT, bowled him! Off the inside edge! Clark pitches it on a good length outside off stump, it angled into Tendulkar who moved forward and began to play at it before deciding he wanted to pull his bat out of the way, he couldn’t do it in time and the ball ricochets into leg stump off the inside edge, that’s the third time on the tour that Tendulkar has played on
SR Tendulkar b Clark 12 (16b 3x4 0x6) SR: 75.00

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Symonds to Dravid, OUT, oh dear, looks like there’s been another questionable decision there, Dravid given out caught behind when he padded up to it outside off, the bat behind his pad and nowhere near the ball
**R Dravid c Gilchrist b Symonds 38 (103b 6x4 0x6) SR: 36.89

another brilliant decision by bucknor in fav of australia. ball was no where near to the bat n umpire sahib gave dravid out caught behind. ankhain hain ke button… :nook:

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

:mad:This is unfrickkingbelievable…cant believe the crappy umpiring esp by bucknor iin this game. Playing the Aussies is tough enough, without having to deal with this BS. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

^
tell me about it. and stupid commentators are trying to justify the decision in every possible way. :nook:

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Michael Clarke completely grassed that catch. Benson, what in the world is that decision? Not even referred to third umpire?

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

India: 137/6

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

and commentators are again justifying benson’s stance of not refering it to the third umpire. ti was clearly not a clean catch and cheater clarke claimed it. australians to desperate to win and make the record thus cheating n lieing. :nook:

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

interestingly umpire looked @ clarke and ponting and ponting indicated it was a clean catch and even raised his finger to give ganguly out which is followed by benson’s decision to give ganguly out. what a farce … :nook:

from cricinfo

Thanks Jenny, the zoom in replays have showed that the ball may have bounced before Clarke took it. Close call but there was doubt. The umpire Benson asked Ponting and he said it was out. End of over 41 (4 runs) - India 141/6

Ganguly, after he nicked that stood long and hard, not convinced that CLarke had caught it, the Australians had no doubt it was out, Ponting motioned to Benson that it was taken and Benson raised the finger.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Even if it was not for the record, who’s to say Australians wouldn’t have done it either way? Or anyone else for that matter? Wouldn’t other teams have at least appealed, like they did? The broader responsibility lies on the shoulders of the umpires. Third umpire should have intervened regardless of the decision of on-field umpires. The power has been misused so badly now, it is a typical day in the life of cricket.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

What a crap umpire Benson is and Bucknor seriously needs to think about retirement...feel a bit sorry for India today...some awful decisions...

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Ponting was not even sure himself. The way he motioned his signal towards the umpire was as if he was asking Benson for the verdict, not actually giving out his decision. Relying on the “finger” gestures of the captains and members of the opposite teams without confirming when you have a wealth of technology is just horrible.
