Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008
Even if it was not for the record, who's to say Australians wouldn't have done it either way? Or anyone else for that matter? Wouldn't other teams have at least appealed, like they did? The broader responsibility lies on the shoulders of the umpires. Third umpire should have intervened regardless of the decision of on-field umpires. The power has been misused so badly now, it is a typical day in the life of cricket.
they were not just appealing. they were celebrating and ponting raised his finger to let the umpire know it was a clean catch and thus out. what happened to bucknor and his opinion. benson only looked at ponting who had his finer up indicating the decision.

Decent point. I am sure had it been Bucknor instead, he wouldn't have referred it to Benson at square leg, either. Why rely on your fellow umpire when you have been spoon-fed the decision from the opposing captain?

wow what a phenomenal, spine chilling over from Clarke.
It was an astonisshing triumph, Kumble fought but he was a sole fighter for the team, I feel sad for him
Nonetheless great victory. No other team would have been able to pull such a situation off
Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008
India choked. What's new
No need to be so harsh on India. India deserved to atleast draw this game after posting an impressive 532 in the first innings. What happened to India on the final day would have happened to every single team against Australia. They are a class-act who just never give up hope of winning at any stage. 8 balls is all that India needed to survive to avoid going down 0-2 in the series but it was n't to be. With just two overs to go and 3 wickets still remaining, India would be disappointed at losing a game in which they fought back so bloody hard. It is very easy to criticise India but when was the last time Pakistan matched Australia in a test match in Australia or scored 400 against them? In 2004 the first test finished inside 3 days and the second and third in 3.5 days!
Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008
From what I have read on cricinfo two decisions were dubious one of Dravid and the other of Ganguly, what about the other 8 wickets, India didnt play very well and as usual Tendi chocked when his country needed him most. Yes two important decisions went against them but in the final analysis it was poor batting bar Kumble.
