2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Yuvraj off the mark with 2

296-4

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Tendu should take the attacking responsibilties as Yuvi needs time to settle down

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Running b/w isn't good

most times when 3 runs are possible only 2 r run

this might cost india

make use of the big grounds

300-4

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

So i'm off to bed as it's 2 in the morning

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

India: 342/6
Still trail by 121 runs.

Tendulkar 68*

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

India 380 /7

trail by 83

now what happened to Yuvraj ?

if Harbhajan can stay this long whats his problem...I sincerely think Yuvraj should be rested and sehwag inducted - Rahul Dravid should come at 3.

Ishant Sharma out - Irfan Pathan in - that I think would be a potent team for the next test

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Gilchrist is having a rare bad test as a keeper. He dropped a few catches yesterday and again again he dropped a couple.

** India: 402/7. Trail by 61 runs.**

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

100* for the little master. :k: :dhimpak:

**Clark to Tendulkar, 2 runs, short, wide outside off stump, Tendulkar drives off the back foot through cover and knows that he’s got there, there are no wild celebrations, he takes off his helmet and acknowledges the cheers of the SCG and looks up at the skies, the applause is stirring, it’s his third hundred at the SCG and it’s been special

IND 413/7
**

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

If anybody should be rested...it is Wasim Jaffer....he is clueless on lively pitches.

So, for next test, my suggestion would be :

Jaffer OUT, Sehwag IN
Ishant OUT, Pathan IN

Sehwag will probably score a quick 20-30 and get out, but even that would be better than what Jaffer has been delivering.

Mind you, Jaffer scored a DUCK even in the practice match before the 1st Test.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Welcome back. Agree on Jaffer, but I thought Ishant did pretty well, actually bowled much better than I remember him doing against Bangladesh. Consistently in the mid 130s and pretty good line and bounce too. Somehow I struggle seeing Pathan as a main bowling option. Ok with him as a third bowler if we play 5 bowlers, but dont think he's good enough to be one of two pace bowlers.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

500 up for India. Well done :k:

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

When a team puts up a 500+ score in the 1st innings, it usually ensures that the team will not lose the test....but NOT against Australia.

By the looks of things, Australia will score a quickfire 320-325 and put India back in...

So, the question really is .....will India be able to bat out 1 day and a session (in the 2nd innings) to draw this Test. Gilchrist (who dropped about 4 catches) may not be as generous in the 2nd innings.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

All day fielding, Australia look visibly tired. Even against Ishant Sharma, the field is all spread out with only one slip, no men in catching positions. Easy allowings of singles. Surprised to see they are kept back at the boundary against the tail-enders.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

If it was up to me....I would play Pathan instead of Jaffer and have Pathan open with Dravid. I have no doubts in my mind that Pathan is a better batsman than Jaffer on lively pitches (esp against short balls).

But to do that would be way too radical for Indian team management...I could expect such things from Greg Chappel but not from the current mgmt.

Even with reduced speed, Pathan has been bowling well....I don't know why the team mgmt is so adamant in keeping him out in Test Matches....when he has been consistently taking wickets in ODIs.....I mean clocking 140mph is not "do-all end-all" for medium pacers. Pathan has experience and plenty of variations in bowling.

They keep Pathan out...and at the same time recall a 3rd class bowler like VRV Singh....who just steams in and delivers a load of crap.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

what happened to our Mallu booty shaker?

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

^ He is injured....

btw, why is Tendu not trying to keep Ishant Sharma away from strike.

Does he want to remain NOT OUT. (does wonders to the batting average)

In the India-Pak series...Misbah did not have confidence in the batting ability of Mohd Sami (when only 7 wickets were down)...refusing to take singles ...
...and here our Hero is cooly handing over strike to Ishant Sharma.

Great knock by Tendu, nevertheless.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Jesus !! one would expect Tendu to take a single off the last ball to retain strike...instead he has been taking a single off the first ball to give Ishant Sharma the strike...amazing.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

16 overs remaining today.

...and Tendulkar does it yet again...takes a single off the first ball to leave Ishant Sharma to face the remaining five.

Sorry but this is not very smart Cricket from Tendu...looking to remain NOT OUT...I am sure.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Just so interesting to see the tail-enders, the likes of Brett Lee, Stuart Clark, Harbhajan Singh and now Ishant Sharma, all with little to no feet movement, dispatching their shots, ball after ball, having little to no problems in playing to the merit of the ball without the technicality part added to it.

On the other hand, the "textbook" quality players - Wasim Jaffer, Rahul Dravid, Ricky Ponting - have had less to show than what they might be worth.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Finally, Tendu does refuse a single to keep Ishant away from strike.

All is forgiven....for now.
