2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

yes india did not bat as well as they shud have, but im 100% india wouldnt lose if it was not for those decisions, dravid and ganguly were the most solid looking batsmen today and with 3 or so overs remaining, do u think india would have lost if these batmsen were not given out?

and more importantly, we should not look at this innings by itself, look at the context, india should have not been in this situation, i would say its not an overstatement to say India would have won this test match if it was not for those decisions

aussies were 120/6 - andrew symonds had 3 let offs! made 150+, how demoralizing is that, hussey in 2nd innings out on 50, made 150+

and then obviously the other 4-5 terrible decisions which u are probably aware of...

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

^ All I am saying is that lets not base the whole defeat on these two decisions. Look at the whole picture and it is not rosy. You said would India have lost with 3 or so overs remaining if these two were not given out. Two things, you are assuming that they were going to be there at the end and secondly what have you got to say about losing 3 wickets in 5 balls. Shouldn't the blame lie there. No one stood up and supported the captain.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

^im not basing it on the 2 decisions today
like i said in my previous post, india should never have been in that position. In the whole test match, straight forward decisions have been going against them (total of ~9, thats almost another innings worth of decisions)

to answer ur qs, imo even if they were not there till the end, they would have eaten up a lot more time, as i said, these were the only 2 batsmen who were looking solid
about 3 in 5, that shouldn't have happened, but pressure and also tailenders can always surprise. but again it shouldnt have come to that..bad decisions let australia set a target, bad decisions let australia get 250 extra runs in the 1st innings..

anyways its all done now, and the record books will show an aussie win and thats all that matters i guess

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

I know india will lose this test after tendu's 100.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

India is just grasping on straws and making pathetic excuses for their lacklustre performance

The better team won

Ricky Ponting’s Post Match Interview

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

I can empathise with you. India most definitely would not have lost the game if the umpiring had been good (2 or 3 bad decisions happen in every game but not 8 or 9) but equally they should not have lost three wickets in an over to a part-timer like Michael Clarke. That's what pressure does to you.

England's Benson makes far too many wrong decisions and should be removed immediately from the elite panel. Steve Bucknor is over-rated like David Shepherd. Even Rudi is better than him. Bucknor is perhaps too old now (61) to be officiating in 5-day games anyway.

You must have been watching a completely different game. 8 balls is all that separated the two teams in the end. Australia are surely the no. 1 team in the world but in this particular game India matched them blow for blow and deserved a draw atleast. When was the last time (before this test) that a test side scored 500+ in a test innings in Australia and that too after the Aussies had made 460 odd themselves? Believe you me it's a rarity and what happened today would have happened to every single test team in the last innings against Australia.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

^^ 8 balls separated India from being defeated or being declared a tie

India had no chance of winning

And thus, the better team won

If India was so good then they should have performed better and thus not be in the situation they were in

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

you clearly have no clue what you are talking about
like GA said, you must have been watching a completely different game, or perhaps you didnt watch it at all

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

^^ I did watch the match

Wasted time watching this match

But anyways, India lost and so just accept it

Making excuses is no way to admonish bad performance

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

^well i did say aussies won and thats all that matters

Bad performance, gotta disagree, i think it was a solid performance and excuses always look bad when your team loses and iam pretty aware of that (have always accepted it as part of the game) but this was really a terrible and disgusting display of umpiring and sportsmanship

anyways sounds like ur on a mission to denounce the indians, so not going to argue anymore

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

I can name a few games in which Pakistan lost because of poor umpiring. Unfortunately bad umpiring has become part of cricket. And fans have to accept it and move on.

ehsan bhai please read this

The Age Report ( Monday , Jan 7th)

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Ehsan bhai. No one is saying that two decisions made the match but they made the BIGGEST difference int he outcome. Initially Symonds riducluous non-dismissals combined with these discussions told us that aussies self proclaimed moral high ground was pure non-sense. The way Ponting indicated Ganguly's dismissal was a shocker.

yes yes aussies are the best team but this is a LUCKY and a largely undeserved victory for them. We cannot say that the better team won this test.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

Im sorry but the better team did win.

There is ONE unfair dismissal. Dravid wasnt out. Ganguly was out for all money, he was beaten, there was an edge, it carried to the fielder, and barring freeze framed slow motion replays that are INCONCLUSIVE at best, he was OUT. The only debate is about whether or not he got lucky and the ball hit the ground as the fielder rolled over. It is an academic discussion, that doesnt change the fact that he was completely done in, in a way that the ball went to hand, and then arguably touched the ground when the guy rolled over.

So lets keep things in perspective. One completely unjust decision, one possibly wrong but DESERVING dismissal, and the umpires are scapegoated for a match that India abjectly lost. Theres atleast 11 players on the field, and India had 70 overs to bat. If you cant survive 70 overs against part time spinners and have to blame it on the umpires, please admit that you're certainly not the better team.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

^u dont even have to admit that u r anti india. Even australians say that the umpires were biased. Are u blind.

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

the umpires were not biased

they made mistakes

thats part of the game so live with it

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

I am living with it. But how are u so sure that they are not biased. :)

Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008

^^ well they are not suppose to be biased, they are suppose to be neutral as per cricket rules

and thus since it can be proven otherwise that they were not, I will give them the benefit of the doubt

of course, if this was Pakistan and not India, then I would definitely say the umpires were biased :)
