Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v South Africa at Abu Dhabi - Oct 31, 2010
I think you see well…
The dilemma with Pakistan cricket is when they win a match or series or cup…they are showered with prizes by the President, ministers, PCB & others…the team goes out of its mind…and consequently goes back to losing streaks…

Yeh...but also look at the record of current Pak bowlers...
In bowling department SA is comparable to Pakistan if not edge better. Anyhow, batting averages of SA batsmen means it is unlikely Pakistani bowlers could do much. Reason, SA bowlers would bowl to mediocre Pakistani batsmen with average around 35, but Pakistani bowlers are bowling to world class batsmen having averages around 50.

Oye yaar...you are too much digged in statistics like our selectors...I am not a fan of statistics...should we settle on the statistics...we don't have to play the matches...can simply give the trophies to the SA... :)
PS: The outcome of an event by man do not depend on statistics...rather on the unfolding realities... :D

Yar, if you do not think about statistics so then why care who wins, who lose. That is what PCB management does, that is, put their local team as Pakistani team, see the match, enjoy, and sleep. After losing, have some orange juice and forget. Past is past, so dream for next match to lose. :)

I do … and I accept that occasionally we do click. Sometime it is luck, sometime it is weather, sometime it is Pakistani swinging bat finding ball of opponents and ball landing without finding fielders, sometime Pakistani bowlers ball becoming too lucky to hit the bat and then deviate to hit the wicket, and sometime those rare occasions when a ball leaves opponent bat and Pakistani fielder holds it without dropping the ball on the ground. I always wish to see these things, but it takes long waiting for such to happen.

Stats are the best tool available zabardast! they might sh ow 99% of the picture not 100% but still..
Yea brother, though some people think that win against all odds (due to miracle or something that clicked) is normal, without realising that if win keeps happing against odds than that win becomes part of statistical facts and not something happening against odds, that is, due to miracle or click.
