2nd ODI: Pakistan v South Africa at Abu Dhabi - Oct 31, 2010

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v South Africa at Abu Dhabi - Oct 31, 2010

Hanibal, a quick look at first few pages of this thread would clear things up. Nobody is praising 'Pakistan Team' here. They are praising this 'one innings' from Razzaq. Let us enjoy. I don't know when another great moment will come to Pakistan cricket.

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v South Africa at Abu Dhabi - Oct 31, 2010

U can add Kamran Akmal too in this list as a batsman who is still capable to destroy batting line. (Just ignore his politics / keeping) in other words agar banday ka puttar ban kar khailay then there is no fine opener then him.

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v South Africa at Abu Dhabi - Oct 31, 2010

I actually was trying to talk to our team who might be thinking that they finally got the winning combo... anyway.. this is the moment...and we can live it till the 3rd match.. who knows if may win it...

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v South Africa at Abu Dhabi - Oct 31, 2010

yeah you got it right there...he will destroy the batting line of his own team due to his inability to focus and delivers for his nation...and bad TECHNIQUE against swing and seam....
However, In South asian conditions he can get good scores due to flat pitches....However he has no TEMPERAMENT or NERVES....

Razzaq did to SA what Hussey did to Pak in the T20 semis...

what an absolute great knock... pity I missed watching it live.

hahah talk about inferiority complex :D

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v South Africa at Abu Dhabi - Oct 31, 2010

Abdul Razzaq's inngs was one of the best you will ever see in your life. Only few players in history can have that kind of temperamental and calmness to execute a brilliant and out of blue inngs that wins a game for a team that was left for dead.

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v South Africa at Abu Dhabi - Oct 31, 2010

Don’t know what to say...............we can’t even perform like this in gally mohally kee cricket let alone in an international match and that too against SA.......what the hell was that….but frankly speaking I am really sick of these miraculous wins by the Pakistani team, which always inflate the valuation of this otherwise highly unpredictable and inconsistent team ....

what these wins do is that they force innocent and stupid followers of this team to put a pretty high premium (emotionally) on it without realizing or deliberately ignoring that both the top line and the bottom line were driven by one odd event and the fundamental core of this team at its best is still shaky, corrupt and undisciplined…..nonetheless I am used to it....because I am a Pakistani fan…Enjoy it as long as it lasts…I guess the moderator of cricketonlinetv (an Indian by the way) has said it best:

“If Pakistan had restricted SA to under 200, then coasted to a leisurely win, sure, it would have been a comeback of sorts into the series but the neutral viewer would have just mumbled to him/herself, “Oh well, ok”. But Pakistan don’t just care about their fans; they care about cricket fans in general. So they go, “Let’s leave the easy boring wins to the other teams. What we wanna do is light a bonfire under the average cricket fan. Really shake them up and get them interested once again in Pak cricket. So, here’s what we’ll do….”

And that’s how you come back into world cricket. The Pakistani way”

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v South Africa at Abu Dhabi - Oct 31, 2010

agreed...dont want to sound an emotional idiot but probably it was the best ODI innings ever played taking into account zero support provided by other players, quality of hitting, pressure, quality of bowling etc....the only thing that was missing was the importance that this match carried...it was not a world cup match and it was not against india....so probably it was not as tense as some other matches could be...

what was breathtaking was the fact that razzaq maintained the momentum for so long singlehandedly..there are many more performances that are probably more dramatic but they are more of instantaneous in nature..35 runs in 12 balls or 40 odd runs in 18 balls, 26 runs in last 6 balls etc but scoring almost last 100 runs single handedly with no support from the other end against a quality bowling attack is something else…

i also rate tendulkar’s 175 against australia also one of the best ODI innings because tendu maintained the momentum singlehandedly for so long under very tough conditions but he could not finish it….razaq finished it and that is the different between a great and an immortal innings….imagine had razzaq gotten bowled out on the last ball…. Our emotions would have been different…
